Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I've been away for a while because I have been feeling so great!
But I think of you guys often.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm a comadin lifer, after my second PE in Dec. 2008.
I know that only a doc and a CT scan with contrast can really answer my question...
but I've been ignoring symptoms for a few days.
I am very very tired and have been seeing stars.
I have had to leave work because of the fatigue.
If I am in bed and get up to go to the restroom, I can't fall asleep again until my heart quiets down. It pounds and pounds for a while. This happened with both my other PEs. I was awake for a while in the middle of the night last night, because I got up to pee and my heart would not quiet.
I have chest pains on my L side. I have costochonditis, so I have been trying to convince myself that it is the cause of the pain.
I also have strange images of myself curled up on the floor flash through my mind. I had this same type of thing with my 2nd PE.
I'm on coumadin and my INR has been 2.1 for the past couple of months.
I really really don't want to go to the ER.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I DO have a PE after all.
It's a little one.
The hospital called. A second radiologist reviewed my scan this morning.
I'm waiting for the hospital to call back about what's next.
Probably Lovenox.
I did not want a PE.
But I feel better knowing that I can trust myself to know my body and my symptoms. I knew it was a PE.
I think they problem was that I was using a home monitor for checking my INR and I think it was not calibrated correctly. My INR has been 2.1 for months. If the calibration is off, I could have been subtherapeutic.
I think it is likely that the will keep me on coumadin and make my range 2.5-3.5 rather than 2-3.
So this explains everything...
I guess when my hematologist says he doesn't trust the reliabilily of home monitoring, this is what he means.
I'm glad you caught it and listened to your gut!
Glad you OK
Hugs

Hope that you continue to improve.
I saw my primary care doc today and got more info.
I have 3 clots, 2 in my right lung and one in my left.
The next steps including seeing my hemotologist and likely changing my target INR to 2.5-3.0, getting my monitor recalibrated, and discussing a vena cava filter.
I'm too tired to think about it.
