Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I've been away for a while because I have been feeling so great!
But I think of you guys often.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm a comadin lifer, after my second PE in Dec. 2008.
I know that only a doc and a CT scan with contrast can really answer my question...
but I've been ignoring symptoms for a few days.
I am very very tired and have been seeing stars.
I have had to leave work because of the fatigue.
If I am in bed and get up to go to the restroom, I can't fall asleep again until my heart quiets down. It pounds and pounds for a while. This happened with both my other PEs. I was awake for a while in the middle of the night last night, because I got up to pee and my heart would not quiet.
I have chest pains on my L side. I have costochonditis, so I have been trying to convince myself that it is the cause of the pain.
I also have strange images of myself curled up on the floor flash through my mind. I had this same type of thing with my 2nd PE.
I'm on coumadin and my INR has been 2.1 for the past couple of months.
I really really don't want to go to the ER.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
If I were you, I would go for a trip to the ER, you know what I say...
"Better waste your time at the hospital then be too late."
I hope you are right about it and it is your costochonditis.
GO to the ER and PLEASE let us know the outcome.

As easy as that, pack a picnic and have it in the ER.
When people have doubts, if you need to ask somebody if you should go to the ER or not is when I say GO!!!!!

one interesting tidbit.
my inr was therapeutic here but was a good bit lower than when i took it on my home monitor before i left for the ER.
it was 3.2 at home and 2.7 here in the hospital.
i wonder if all the time that it was 2.1 on my home monitor if it was actually lower than that!
the good news is that my d-dimer was fine here...
