My doctor just called to tell me that I have Lupus. FANTASTIC...gout and Lupus, on top of my other crap!! I just want to curl up in a ball and not face anyone...

I'm sorry about the latest bad medical news, Marie.

I think lots of us would understand:

-- that when it rains, it pours, and

-- how it feels to have our bodies slowly falling apart while we're trying to sort through our traumas.

Sorry to hear the news about lupus. Sounds like you need a couple days to digest it. Take your time and when you are ready start gathering information on Lupus, support groups, meds, treatment, and research.

I know it may not be the news you were hoping for, but once the doctor's have a cause the symptoms can be easier to treat.

I have all the symptoms, from what I'm reading so far. I'm scared...it says it affects the joints and organs. I'm kind of in a daze right now...still reeling from finding out that I not only have Gout (found out last Friday) but I also have Lupus. :(

Whoa. I'm really sorry. My next door neighbor and I work at the same school and we're each other's medical contact because he has lupus and I have kidney failure. Hope you can find a support system to help carry you through, complexwoman. Sad news.

Thank you Muji!! I'm not liking what I'm reading on it thus far. I think I need to let myself process this information and then research. Because, I'm freaking myself out right now!! I have my parents...guess I will be leaning on them even more now.

I like to take stuff like this in the smallest chunks life will permit, keeping it one step shy of denial. My impressive research skills can turn obsessive with the greatest of ease while I am reeling in such downpours. The obsessive research while I am emotionally unstable becomes a classic case of information overload which is far from objectively accurate or verified. In other words, I end up plying my 165 IQ to the noble task of making everything worse than it really is. The doom gloom gal. . . I am so glad that academia is getting up off that absurdity that comprehensive intelligence can be measured in a single number. My emotional IQ ain't so hot. . . Balance comes hard for me.

So or no for you, Marie. . . Gentle support while you sort the nasties. I am sorry beyond words.

    I did the dumbest thing today.  I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds.  I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym.  What a dummy!
