What is depression? Well no, I know what it is, what I meant to ask is, is there one specific way to be depressed? Because my mom said today "you always say you're depressed, but you're laughing at your videos. I don't want to get up. I act more depressed than you." Idk what to say to that. She right. I don't act depressed.
Yesterday she said "you're not trying hard enough to fight your 'depression'." And you know what? She's fucking right. I don't...I'm not trying. I'm fucking fighting....the only reason I got a shower last week was because my friend came over (while my mom was busy shopping for Christmas) and she was like, "when was the last time you are? Showered?" After I told her it's been about a week, she pushes me to the bathroom and made me shower while she made me rice, and shabu shabu. That was the first proper meal I've had in..god who knows how long. Keep in mind I'm a really hungry person (I could eat a whole cow and still be full) but I can have a bowl of cereal in the morning and then feel full the rest of the day. Which isn't good because I've almost collapsed once in school because the only thing I ate everyday was a piece of toast throught school. Then at home is have another piece of bread, so needless to say I fell to the ground on day and then I went home. It's just...I can laugh and smile and basically act normal, but my habits have completely changed. I'm more tired. I'm taking care of myself less, but I still smile, yet I feel like dying. Is this depression? What can I say to my mom? I'm honestly so lost and confused and depressed

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

There are also other things like severe anxiety that can send someone into their bed and have them not want to get out.
Like Simpson said, you have to go see your doctor. Then you can have your doctor talk to your mother.
***It's possible, just possible that your mother's question was a good one.
How about replying..."That's a good question mom, can I get to the doctor and get this thing figured out?"
If you're being treated appropriately, the doctor can then tell your mother that. And if another approach might be better, you can try that.***
triple hugs and good luck
One of the easiest to fix flavors of depression in my personal psycho baggage car is blood sugar. The first question my most trusted supporters ask when my emotions are spiraling is, "Have you eaten?" Typically I haven't. I typically feel hunger in my emotional stability far more than I feel it physically and I am far more focused on the emotions than my physical condition. 'Tis amazing the difference a balanced diet can make.
HALT is one of my wellness checks. When I am emotionally unstable, I ask myself if I am Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired. If I am any of the four, fixing that becomes my top priority.
Continued support while you find what works for you, Shu.
For know I can follow some of the ideas you all have me. Thank you
In which case wise move
Or do they mean to the medication???
In which case...
If your in therapy and you like your therapist and they aren't upsetting you then maybe persevere a little longer
I would highly recommend hiring a personal trainer to motivate you to exercise hard daily till your fit and addicted to that
Consider purchasing the upward spiral on Amazon for a positive read about what depression is and how to overcome it
Sugar is linked to depression. Try eating a diet that keeps your blood sugars stable.
Apparently fighting your depression and taking action works. Perhaps our parents are just better at being able to do the opposite of their feelings. I personally have been bed bound with depression a number of times. Nothing in me can muster up the action at those times.
So I just accept it and go with the flow, why make your suffering worse for yourself. Bad enough your depressed right?
As a teenager I remember literally spending hours in bed feeling awful and drained, constantly trying to convince myself to move... Sometimes the habit of brushing my teeth would have me spend another hour or two in bed with the absolute drain that was the thought of brushing my teeth. So I'd give up on that idea and be like "just make it downstairs and put the tv on...."
Sigh.... I don't know whether people who say you got to fight it have experienced real depression, or if I am doing something wrong... Maybe they fight it before it actually takes hold huh?
All the rest is actually sadness and years ago we just stayed with that, some hospitalized until it passed. In our society it is not okay just to feel sad. I also realize if you can't get out of bed, then you need help or can't do your regular routine. Psychologist are great for that. I read a lot of Scientific Mind and regular exercise has been scientifically proven as the best treatment. Just walking 20 min a day 5 times a week. big support to you, I know it sucks and have dealt with it for years, I have been running since 1976 as my treatment
