Despite the fact that I got my flu shot this Fall, like arfie I've developed a full blown case of the flu today.  It sucks especially because for the first tine in years I have plans with others for the New Year:  



1. New Year's Eve with a coworker at a restaurant where others coworkers of ours are to be the band supplying the evening's entertainment right up to the countdown to midnight.


2.  A 5 day trip to Mexico I planned for myself last summer.  The trip is for fun, but also to check out a city in which I might make my home for retirement in 3 years.



This flu, though, is putting those plans in question.  If you've got the time and inclination, would you say a prayer or send good thoughts my way to see if I might recover from this flu in time?  I know arfie's flu has really lingered in the last 10 days or so, so it might take chicken soup plus prayer and good vibes for me to get well from this.

It's so comforting to come and have your good wishes and prayers here! I've been a good boy and have stayed in taking fluids, vitamin C, citrus, getting lots of sleep, you name it. I'm really trying to get through the virus without getting a secondary bronchial infection that'll require a doctor's visit and stretch out my recovery time. I smoked for a long time until 2005, so that's been a pattern with the flu for me.

I'm hoping I can still make my New Years' & trip plans can. On the other hand I've been consoling myself with research into a Plan B to go on the trip this summer instead.

I haven't even looked into whether I have trip insurance. I usually do. I'll look into that tomorrow after another night's sleep. I paid my bills today, and that was enough for a sick-o to get done for one day. Off to sleep again.

Got up this morning, and optimistic thoughts of being over this flu fast dissipated not only with how I felt, but how I looked in the mirror. A bleary and red eyed Muji stared back, too, unable to breathe through a red, stopped up nose, the vision accompanied by the sound track of a barking cough.

I checked as per your advice here about whether I had trip insurance for my Mexico trip on Tuesday. Yay! I'm so glad to say that I had the good sense to take out trip insurance! So it looks like I'm going to spend some time on the phone about that.

Thanks for being there for me in this, my friends. It's not the festive way I had hoped to ring in the New Year, so it's nice to have friends near. Thinking of you all, too, and hoping you're well.

Quite allot of folks here in Texas couple their medical needs with vacations in Mexico. They claim their savings on the medical part just about pays for the vacation and that the care is better by a ration of humility. Especialmente si hablara el castellano.

I haven't tested it myself, but I believe them.

My fever broke! So I got up and went to my New Years celebration with my friend from work. Had a great time, came home early, and then packed my bag to go to Mexico anyway.

It's a little miracle. Your prayers worked! :-)

    My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart.  Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot.  Got home, dropped keys.
