Does anyone else every feel weak or like they are a failure for not being able to control their PTSD symptoms better? I know that I am more heightened right now with tomorrow being the anniversay of everything, but I still have these feelings, like somehow I should be stronger. My therapist says this is normal and that you can't control your nervous system. I have been doing grounding exercises, going on walks, and practicing self-care, just trying to breathe through the next couple of days but it is just feeling really hard this year.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Sending you support and gentle hugs for today... You're not alone
I watch and read a lot about PTSD and GAD, since i have both, and one guru said to grab a blanket and wrap it around you and pull it tight. In essence, it acts like a hug, which calms your nerves. It works in some cases. I tried it today when I woke up trembling in cold sweats. It helped. It actually kicked off a day of crying, which believe it or not, is preferable to the insane going out of my mind with panic trembling all day.
Sorry you feel this way. I totally know how you feel. But really, it's just not our fault. HUGS.
That whole blanket thing would work I bet…..I use a weighted blanket and it dies wonders for me. Plus I see a naturopath doctor and she is amazing!!
I was just about to do my nightly yoga but wanted to reply…..you are definitely not alone in feeling this way. Sending hugs.
It passed as they always do, but yo, did I ever get put back in my place Reaching out for support here was the way out of bouncing around with those PTSD symptoms all alone in my head. I'm really glad you reached out, too, and I hope peer support helps you as well since for you this IS an anniversary situation. We're with you.
I've also told him that how I look on the outside isn't always representative of how I am on the inside or how bad my PTSD is affecting me. It is just so frustrating. I feel like all of my friends get it and I don't understand why he can't when I am verbalizing and being so clear about what I need. He wasn't with me when I first got diagnosed or was going through the worst of things, but he has seen my panic attacks and the days I couldn't get out of bed. I just feel like I'm spiraling now today and having trouble getting back to baseline. I have reached out to my therapist, doctor, and friends for support.
I am not blaming him and I know that he didn't cause my PTSD but I feel angry when I don't feel like he hears me when I express my needs and his actions resulted in making what was already an extremely dfficult day harder for me.
i also feel weak for a kajillion other things i don't have the energy to type.
ply therapy tools here. . .
on the anger of my hubby and other loved ones not hearing me, etc., i solidly believe that loved ones are the worst possible choice for therapy support. may my loved ones NEVER understand what i am going through. i channel that anger into my therapy support network where i can find other wounded warriors who understand as unfortunately as i do. this very forum is one of the places i look for such support.
keep venting, mel. normalizing these symptoms doesn't make them okay or easy to live with. we're here for you. you are not alone.
