Phobia Support Group
A phobia (from the Greek "fear"), is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities, or persons. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. When the fear is beyond one's control, or if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made.
mine are Spiders and any crawling /flying insects.plus Doctors ,Dentists, and Hospitals..
I do not know where these phobias came from ,I used to be able to go to these places alone and with no fears at all. then I became agoraphobic, and the others just seemed to follow on . It is sooo demoralising when others who do not have phobias ,poke fun at you and it makes you feel as though you are not at all efficient at anything .
It would be so lovely to have a close friend living close by ,who is in the same postion as oneself ,to be able to support one another in times of deep stress
