I just started a new job at a desk. I'm used to working on my feet all day and staying physically and mentally engaged. (serving, mail carrier, camp counselor, etc) and now I work security.
I'm terrified that I'm going to have a panic attack or anxiety episode from having too much down time. I do word searches, sudoku and stuff to stay as occupied as i can but after a while I get bored and my mind races and I overthink everything.
Does anyone have any useful tips to overcome big chunks of down time??

My best friend ruined my day with her immature, bitchy self. If she doesn't get her way, she has a tizzy fit. I told her weeks ago that I couildn't go to yard sales with her on 9/12 because i have a hair appointment. She wasn't happy. I also told her that I don't have any money to go to yard sales. She tried to talk me into going to more yard sales by saying that if I don't go, there...

The Friday before Labor Day just before we left, the options given to me basically were either quit of be fired, and if I were to stay on I were to be put on an improvement plan, which is pretty much synonymous with getting fired. I was going to do the improvement plan and just ride it out until I found another job due to money and due to the fact that I did not want to quit without another job....

The first thing is to try not to worry about a panic attack. That's how they get started. It took me a while, but I have learned to not think about. I took some time (about 10 years), but I'm mostly okay. Still have the fear of having one on occasion, but I've learned to clear my mind.
As far as taking care of big chunks of down time. Do you like to read? What is your favorite genre? Find a good book from a favorite author and get lost in it. Authors like John Grishom write a lot of books and you could get into reading a series of books by him or amother good author. Anything to keep your mind off things. This is my thought. Hopefully, there will be others.
Good luck.
I do love to read Emptyshell49. I love crime dramas or thrillers!
GirlinCalif- I need to be at my desk to answer phone calls when they come in and monitor the front lobby but I do get a few 10 minute breaks as well as a 30 minute lunch so there are times where I can stand up and stretch and walk around. I do go on my phone quite a bit but I get bored with that easily. I could watch videos but I would have to put the subtitles on and turn the volume off.
