...and suddenly the paleo diet is going to be the next greatest cure?
Um... NO! Maybe for him. Maybe for the supposed doc for whom it, apparently, worked but what the news people need to realize is, as we at DS keep reminding us... and we see for ourselves, not every MS is the same and they need to stop spouting cure alls.
This does not give us hope. For me, anyway, this is bloody depressing because some of us subconsciously follow the danged diet (without being told to or even having it given a stylish label) and it's gotten us... gas. :P
I'm glad that he's getting treatment. I'm glad that he's at a point where he can't hide it so he and his fans have to deal with it (like Jack Osborne and so many others) but paleo is very doubtfully the cure all.
...at least for me. :/
(apologies for the grump. fading out of tysabri before starting something else and riding the relapse wave. whee!)

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

I'm also sort of feeling that MS IS THE NEXT COOL THING TO HAVE. When I had to let my employer and classroom parents know about having MS there were no TV cameras, etc. to make me feel that it was OK to have this horrible illness.
I just think that the focus just loses perspective when a celebrity devolges that they now have the illness.
Sorry if this sounds nasty, this just brings out the worst in ME.
It's not easy following a protocol sometimes. The hardest part for me is trying to do the exercise this is required to stimulate circulation and muscle strength. I'd love to have a drill sergeant to make me do what is required to really follow this protocol to the "T." Meanwhile, I've just got me.
Basically, we have ourselves and our little DS community to lean on about our MS. Wish I could help. I think it's important to have hope and I'd like to see you get more of that.
I can't imagine for a minute MS is perceived as a 'cool' or 'fad' disease. Most people have still never even heard of it.
Regarding the diet - in the history of MS (@ 150 yrs) - there was another diet that showed remarkable results and improvement - Dr. Swank's.
