Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

SO- bumpity-bump-bump!!
I take Zanaflex 4mg up to 3 times a day.
My experience was waking up with baggy eyes and a groggy feeling after I had taken the baclofen at bedtime. I much prefer my magnesium. Doctors are quick to prescribe... except the really concerned ones, or the ones trained in healing the person and not prescribing for the symptom. There's an old song that mentions curing the symptom but not the disease, comes to mind here.
To answer RelyOnHim's question, the difference for me is Zantaflex really makes me sleepy so I take it at night. It is a powerful sleeping pill and muscle relaxant. Baclofen does not make me sleepy. I take that in the morning and afternoon, usually only around 10 mg at a time.
I find with Baclofen that it works but you need to find the right dosage and at times maybe add a 2nd medication.
I prefer it over tizanadine as tizanadine knocks me out and makes me pretty useless.
My dose has gradually increased. noticed a lot of posters said they take it but not the dosage. I started using 10mg tablets. I am now on 25mg tablets 1 x 4 times a day. If I dont take it I soon bow about it with more spasticity totally uncontrolled.
Dr talked about infusion pump but not real keen on another surgery or implant as have had trouble with both for other things like surgeries etc.
I agree with prevous feedback that baclofen is good drug but it takes time to figure out right dose and that may even change. Zanaflex is a stronger spascity drug - knocks me out and can affect your liver.
I am all for natural medicine but when it comes to spasticity and MS magnesium is not even on the same page. You are dealing with spinal cord lesions not a blood level. MY PCP suggested magnesium years ago before I had MS - for what I can't remember. Please remember MS is a serious disease of the CNS, brain and spinal cord. If you are recommending a supplement like magnesium then with all due respect you most likely have never experienced spasticity or you would understand what I am talking about. It IS recommended for people who suffer from fibromyalgia as a helpful supplement for muscle spasms.
