Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
I am struggling with loneliness very much. I moved last year to start school and have had a hard time adjusting. Everyone in my program is very kind - I have just found it hard to reach out to people and even when I am invited to things, have turned down some opportunities because of how tired and unwell I have felt (also dealing with depression, social anxiety, and an eating disorder).
I am hard on myself and feel like after a year, I should be adjusted by now - it seems like everyone else around me is. I feel so out of place here. I have considered quitting my program of study and moving closer to family, yet I don't want to do that because it is my dream to be here studying what I am studying. I also don't know what I would do in terms of schooling/work if I were to leave. I have no backup plan.
I am finding the loneliness unbearable and am not sure what to do to make myself feel better. Can anyone relate to just feeling out of place/like you don't belong anywhere? How do you all cope with these sorts of feelings?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I've started searching for a new job, but I really don't want to start again. I've worked at a certain law office for about 4 years. The managers haven't changed but the turnover rate for the associates has been about 95% in the last 4 years!!! We get new clerks each semester, which is great. The cases are extremely stressful. The paralegal and office manager are very toxic (unorganized,...

So hello. I'm just a teenager but I've been struggling with porn for almost 6 years and I'm too shy to talk to anyone about it. Some help might really be welcome cause I've tried to quit on my own but I end up relapsing all the time. I'm so tired of this and I want to stop

Just checking in to see how you are doing. Are you feeling any better since you wrote your message?
angelwallace - That you put yourself out there, even when it's not easy, really inspires me. It sounds like you've gotten involved in many things out of your comfort zone - perhaps I will make a list of some ways I could do the same.
Maria718 - I love the suggestion about volunteering - I do really think that giving to others is the best way to help yourself as well. Definitely something I hope to do soon once I can muster up the energy (and courage) to do so.
Scaredandafraid - You're so right about the comparing - I seem to get into that trap a lot. Thank you for reminding me that, and for reminding me that I must take chances and risks to move forward.
harrisbaby - thank you for letting me know I am not alone - I am glad you've been able to reach out to others.
txlw123 - thank you so much for checking in. I've still been struggling - with a couple things (depression, eating disorder, pressure I put on myself to perform at school/work), but the loneliness is a big piece of it. I have just felt very needy lately too, like I do not want to be alone, and yet I find myself alone so much of the time. I hope to not feel this way forever. Seeing your message this morning, wondering how I've been, made me feel cared about, and I appreciate that very much. Thank you.
