Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

I miss my boyfriend because he is in recovery. Has been in recovery for roughly 40 something days. Not getting needs met, at this moment Has been about 5 months, since I saw him, still I wish things were different. Tried to reach him today and so far I have been unsuccessful at making connection. Kinda was excessive, by means of contacting him today, so wondering if he is ignoring me, blocked me or ordered a court order. Didnt mean to be that way, it was just like after the first time I contacted him, I got worried and didnt want him to think like he didn't mattter. He probably will get back to me soon. The anticipitation of him doing so is so intense and wondering if he might actually not. He is in recovery off of Benzos. Hope he is not using. Idk, I am open to something different if it came, into play, yet hesitant because again I have needs, but I am very loyal to him. Need advice on the matter. I mean, I guess I am saying that if someone else came into the picture, I would be open to dating depending on what the situation was with me and him. I mean what should I do? Is it wise to carry on the connection, despite all this? Since he is in recovery, he is sometimes very distant, at other times very consistent on contact. I don't know what to do. Hate his erratic suspicious behavior, yet I love him dearly so there is that. I have prayed on it and tried to distract myself, but I can't stay distracted long, because I am craving his touch. I also do understand, that he is probably going through a lot and has a lot going on, so I am leniant on his outlandish behavior. Is this situation normal? Need support and advice. Does anybody think it might get better. I am too upset to figure it out and dont know for sure.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

This sounds like a trying time for you, for sure.
Oh, did you say in your other post that he is a "former boyfriend"?
I would suggest taking care of yourself now. Do self care. It's completely okay to go out with your friends, to go and have fun. It's Halloween weekend, maybe there are some fun things to do in your town? Make some plans to go out, get out of the house, go talk with your friends.
You should be enjoying your life. Regardless of what happens with him, or between you two. Don't feel guilty for wanting to have a life.
Focus on the things that you want to do and like to do. Think about what you want in your life long term too, and do you feel that this ex boyfriend is meeting your needs and is a healthy situation for you to be in. How long have you known him?
You describe the former boyfriend as someone unreliable, chaotic, unkind and so I wonder why do you pursue someone like this? Don't say because you love him because love is not enough. I think you may be chasing a guy who isn't ever going to meet your needs. If this is reality, then what now are you willing to do to heal yourself and create a good life?
It is both possible he is changing and it is also possible he is sliding back into using again. This can't be your focus of your life because addicts lie anyway about their using. You can keep chasing him for contact or you can save yourself and let him go.
But do you actually love this guy or is it cause he’s there because you don’t want to be alone ?
Your wasting your time chasing after someone who doesn’t want to be caught .. he might come around only when it benefits him then your back to square one .
Life is short. What if you wait and wait and wait, and he is still using or goes back to using the minute he gets out of treatment? You need to think about is this the kind of life that is okay with you. Sounds to me that you might want someone who is there for you every day and who is not using drugs.
It is okay to tell him that you want to take a break while he is getting his treatment. That you have things you need to think about, too. It's really not fair of him to ask you to wait, indefinitely, for when or if he ever gets better.
It's been 5 months already. You need to do some thinking if you really want to keep waiting more and more months for something that you're not even sure you really want.
Do some thinking about it.
Unfortunately, I myself am a recovering alcoholic and also a recovering heroin addict. I think I am doing okay, as I haven't had a drink of alcohol or taken any non-prescription drugs since 3rd September 1983 ~(38 years ago)
I can tell you from experience, that if you keep worrying about this guy, it is highly unlikely that he will stay free of benzo's.
The way he is looking at this is, you are always there, no matter what he does, not really a reason to quit drugs, is it?
The best way to help him, and yourself, is to take a break from him, and tell him that you want nothing at all to do with him, until he kicks this benzo habit.
He will be much more likely to quit benzo's if he has a reason to quit.
Best wishes.
