Lactose Intolerance Support Group
Lactose intolerance is the condition in which lactase, an enzyme needed for proper metabolization of lactose (a constituent of milk and other dairy products), is not produced in adulthood. A hydrogen breath test is required for a clinical diagnosis. With lactose intolerance, the result of consuming lactose or a lactose-containing food is excess gas production and often...

My body reacts wildly to dairy products. I get so sick but I can’t stop eating cheese, ice cream and sour cream. Even though recently it’s taken on a allergic reaction I can’t stop thinking about it until I eat it. Then it takes a couple of days to recover. I know I need to stop I just don’t know how and now with the holidays coming up where cheese and butter is pretty much in every casserole I don’t know how to be around it and not eat it. Do you guys know of any good alternatives? I don’t want to feel sick all of the time.

My best friend ruined my day with her immature, bitchy self. If she doesn't get her way, she has a tizzy fit. I told her weeks ago that I couildn't go to yard sales with her on 9/12 because i have a hair appointment. She wasn't happy. I also told her that I don't have any money to go to yard sales. She tried to talk me into going to more yard sales by saying that if I don't go, there...

The Friday before Labor Day just before we left, the options given to me basically were either quit of be fired, and if I were to stay on I were to be put on an improvement plan, which is pretty much synonymous with getting fired. I was going to do the improvement plan and just ride it out until I found another job due to money and due to the fact that I did not want to quit without another job....

Have you tried to take Lactaid pills when you eat those other foods? I haven't tried them, but they might work. It's not actually an allergic reaction. It's an intolerance to the lactose in some dairy products. Hope this helps.
I know it can be hard to have to eat like this. It took me many years to adjust to it. Where I live, lots of people have lactose intolerance (big city). It's actually more common that you think, and it's worldwide. Some studies say grown adults aren't even meant to drink cow's milk, and that's why we get sick from it.
You might have to avoid the foods that make you the most sickest, and try to experiment with alternative choices. (Try the plain yogurt on baked potatoes.... it really is good!!) :)
Oh, and try taking Acidophilus pills. I take two every morning. I think it helps throughout the day, not sure. Couldn't hurt to take them though :)
Hang in there.... you'll get used to this new way of eating after awhile.
