Incest Survivors Support Group
Incest refers to any sexual activity between closely related persons that is illegal or socially taboo. Consensual adult incest is very rare. Incest between adults and prepubescent or adolescent children is a form of child sexual abuse that has been shown to be one of the most extreme forms of childhood trauma. If you or a loved one is a survivor of incest, join the group...
I do believe it is possible - I also had some very intensively spiritual people that mentored me on the damage that such negativity brings to me - not them.

First one to contest was Alice Miller, showing how poisonous that injonction could be..
There has been many books written on this, especially priests, pastors and many therapists .
My own therapist once told me, "i don't know what this word means"he was right.
Concerning myself, only one of my abusers asked me for his forgiveness;itwas one of my brothers, on his death bed.As he had asked me, I could forgive me but how could I forgive someone who refused to admit he abused me?it is a life work and a long journey that first needs to let go of all our rage, terror, feeling of deceit etc.
I had forgiven my abusers a long time ago but I soon realised it was a spiritual cop out to avoid confronting painful issues in myself;Anger came back with a lash back after that.
I noticed my peace of mind came when I understood fully what had happened to me and how that incest had been transgenerational in my father and mother'sfamilies and my husband's.
I must also add that Buddhist philosophy concerning the law of cause and effect helped me greatly .
Again, not saying anyone has to go along with my thoughts, just wondering where others were on this issue.
Thanks for the input.

I don't understand them, but I don't really want to - I think if I thought like them, I would understand hatred, for I really think they both hated - themselves, and others.
That's just how I see it.

You are where you are. You have every reason to be there and all of your feelings are valid. Do not get me wrong - I just wanted to see what others thought of the concept and if they can find a productive reason to hold on to hatred. Do you deserve your feelings? - God yes and I would fight for you to have them and be able to express them. This again is just where I am at and wondered about others.

I am sorry that you read so much into what I said - as I said this was where I WAS - I point blank said that I did not expect ANYONE to feel like this, I just was interested what others thought about forgiving their abusers. I am sorry that you took this so wrong, as I have hardly had it easy - I have worked for 46 years to be here - am point blank said that this was NOT for anyone to think I was telling them they should feel this way - you have EVERY right to feel as you do and I think that is just normal - I just wanted to hear other members input on this subject - now I have yours, but it was not a personal attack or directive, just a subject.
Thanks for voicing your opinion,

I do thank you for the support, but I knew when I posted it, some would probably misunderstand it, so I was prepared. Again, I am very forgiving so this is just not that big of a deal to me. At least it got people to thinking about it!! I know when you put something like that out there, someone has to feel the need to smack it good. No big issue - that is their understanding, but they did not read what I actually wrote. I do not agree with the approach either, but this is a public site, so the freedom of expression is there, it's just up to the individual whether to be polite or rude in their response.
And to make it clear - you are right - I WAS NOT APPROVING OF ANY ABUSE IN ANY FORM, I was just stating how I deal with my hatred and anger and how I can't allow the hatred of others to determine my life's outcome.

Maybe this is what you mean by forgiveness And if it is I agree with you! But it is unfortunate that the word forgiveness has so much controversy... As I feel it is just not be right word for it!!! To forgive someone in my eyes is to accept and love them again!!! Well I do not love my abusers!!! But I do except them for who they are!!! Evil monsters!!!
