I am fairly convinced it is the castor oil...read through this thread to my previous post. Granted, I am not a chemist or scientist but I do have a working knowledge of chemistry and the ingredient list to make that conclusion. It is working for me as well.

I would say I don't think its a good idea to use just one stick on your arms, thighs, waist etc. I think its better to use one on each area so as not to spread germs. The label clearly says not to use on open skin, etc so some people could have bad reactions. Seems like most of us are having favorable reactions to it so far.

I am going to pick up castor oil and experiment with it as well as I do still have concerns over the aluminum in the dove.

I've been thinking about trying castor oil too so definitely keep us updated :D

Interesting reading and thanks for the tips on the Dove deodorant and the castor oil, I will give those a go. I am eager to find anything that helps keep these nasties at bay.

im compelled to update! I know that i have complained about the little cluster of abcesses that have refused to fully heal since august of last year well they are healing!!!! Im not quick to get excited bc i know how hs works BUT im very happy. My affected underarm looks almost normal!!! Im even considering wearing tanks this summer if it stays like this! i am going to try the castor oil because i too have a fear of what deo willdo in the long run!

I'm still nervous about putting on deodorant, I havn't worn it for years!
For now the huang lian su is keeping my pits dried up nicely, but I do have castor oil capsules..maybe I will pierce those and try on one that wouldn't heal after surgery

I bought some Dove deodorant a couple weeks ago and started putting it on every day. I was using Tom's deodorant; it didn't really have an effect on my HS either way AND it didn't make me smell any better. I spent like 20 minutes looking at the 10 different kinds of Dove they had at Walmart before I picked one, lol! Mine says "Go Sleeveless" and it's the fragrance-free kind. My armpits are all cleared up now! Yay!

However, I'm really worried about the aluminum in it, so I'm thinking of just getting some castor oil and trying that instead. Has anyone tried that yet? Does it work the same way as the Dove?

I am definitely going to pick up some dove deodorant! Hoping to have good results like the rest of you...I've never had to use deodorant before as I don't sweat under my arms much and when I do it rarely smells! Hope I don't have any other adverse reactions!

I picked up some sensitive skin dove and am going to try it tonight! wish me luck...I will provide an update in a few days!

Cant wait to hear how it works for u!.I had a bad one coming up on,my waist line put the dove on it and it shrunk over night. I thought about writing dove this morning bc I was so impressed!

I've been spot treating the last few days and haven't noticed a difference yet BUT I am glad to say that atleast things haven't gotten worse! even if it doesn't work Its better then it causing me further problems! I will continue spot treating and see what happens

So I've been reading this thread and I am a little confused. Are yall only using it when you don't have a flare up? i saw ppl say not to use it on open sores but then i read that it has helped some people dry up. But mine all always open and draining.
I haven't used deodorant since my freshman year of high school, It would be a dream to not smell bad and for my shirts to be dry.
I read about using it under breasts but has anyone tried any groin area sores?

I've been using it on flare-ups, putting it around open sores and also gently dabbing it on them, but also have kept using it on my right armpit since it has totally healed up, and I have not had a flare there in quite a few months. So something in it seems to both aid in healing but also in preventing new ones.

I just started using it on groin sores since I got a couple of nasty bumps the other day so I don't know how well it's working yet.

I too wonder about the effects of aluminum, but I'm happy to take that risk since it seems to be helping.

further update - I was spot treating for the first few days and nothing major happened good or bad so yesterday I decided to put it all over both my pits and about an hour later both sides started getting itchy...by the end of the night I had to wipe my pits down with rubbing alcohol just to soothe the itch and ensure the deodorant was removed! felt much better after doing that so I am back to spot treating today!

I use Crystal's deoderant; I had to completely stop using dove especially on days that I had open sores because it only made them worse. The Crystal's deoderant is AWESOME and has help to heal some of the areas Crystal comes in many different forms but I like the rock form; you have to wet it for it to work but with HS it works perfectly.

I pray you find something that works for you. Crystal deoderant is all natural so it does not have the aluminum chlorohydrate or aluminum zirconium in it like other deoderants.
