Today has been hell day. I was going to journal this but I'm on my phone and I was having problems. Last night I went to ER because I was having chest pains which now I believe was just me upset. After riba rage was released on a friend because I felt like that Was trying to pick fights with me. We argued and my friend screamed at me your nasty ass probably gave me your disease. They said they hoped I died a slow death. I was shocked. When I went to ER the doctor wanted to know why I was taking interferion. I explained the Dr responded this is not curable. Interferion treats symtoms not the disease. My friend did come by hospital and was there when Dr gave some misinformation. I'm so confused. I was also told that my symtoms wasn't real and I was using treatment for an excuse. My friend was screaming this outside my middle class neighborhood where I was trying to keep it low key. I was treated second class at er when they found out about hep c. Yesterday was one of the lowest points. I've lost a friend, was profiled, and humilated. Just ranting to DS

This isn't really bipolar related but there is never anyone on the parenting groups, this is the most active group I've been in.My 6yr old son has really bad seasonal allergies and they're in full force right now. He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...
Second many Dr.s know dick all about HCV and Tx so pay no mind. I have had to correct my family Dr. more than once withy information I was given by my HCV Dr.
The attending Emerg Dr. was correct to some degree that interferon does not "cure" HCV. Nothing "cures" HCV but rather treats it and hopefully reduces the virus to such a small amount that it is considered "in remission" or SVR as we call it.
treatment makes us all absolutely nuts. i was screaming at friends, family, pharmacy, insurance, and other people in cars. it was so awful because i thought they'd all gone crazy!
doctors don't know as much about treatment as we do. i'm serious! they have no idea what hell we go through. and tht's the specialist that we see! regular GP's no nothing! it's useless to even talk to them!
so sorry you've had all this happen. we all love you a do understand what you're going through. sending you lots of hugs and strength...
Sounds like the perfect storm of TX arose.
One day at a time is what I remember being told and that is my only advice to you as you will have your friend back if in fact a true friend and the doctor at the ER well most doctors are ignorant about the virus as said before.
And make sure you have the right doctors with the right attitudes.
As for friends not understanding - you kind of find out who your real friends are during this time.
Keep your chin up and vent here - its safe.
Try to not lose focus of why ur doing this tx.
Heres another perfect example as to how ignorant drs are and why it's important u have one that understands the meds and their sides. I went to a hematologist about 2 months ago...figured double ck my blood results (as he specializes in this) 1st off, he NEVER treated anyone w/HCV. Then he said he was familiar w/interferon, but said "48 weeks is a LONG time to be on that drug!" I just picked up my purse and left.
You will learn more on this site and get more support on here than anywhere. We know the truth and are victims of all of the miscommunications.
You may want to put that friendship on hold for now.. ( i had to w/several friends, they ran out of patience w/me and/or are afraid of me?) The last thing you need right now is someone screaming in ur neighborhood and demeaning u.
Sounds like u had a major anxiety attack, and med are the most important thing right now... Trust me... I've been so dark from these meds, u DON'T want to go there! Hugs, and hang in there, this all shall pass.
As for being treated as 2nd class in ER, I know the feeling. Bunch of ignorant idiots - never mind their oath: "first do no harm" - yeah. I determined that the only reason I was well treated when I went to ER was because I just had a beautiful haircut and looked like a well to do person. No one asked me how I got hep c unlike every other friggin doctor I've ever seen - I'm sure they were afraid to this time cuz I looked like I might be smart enough to report them. It probably won't do a lot of good but you can call patient relations and file a complaint - even if you do it anonymously. Or you can call the president's office and speak with the executive assistant who will ensure the information is passed along to the right person in senior management - I'm sure they don't take these things lightly.
And as for your friend, I know it's really difficult, but try to take the high road. I think sometimes people love us but they are deathly afraid of this disease. It is ignorance again. Losing your friend may be a mixed blessing but now may not be the time to know what the reason is. This person was obviously struggling with this issue. I got dumped cuz of hep c a few days before I started tx. And like everyone here keeps telling me, if someone truly loves you, they will accept you no matter what. Maybe this person was not your soulmate.
Be strong. This can be a very lonely disease but we are all here to support you. Us heppers stick together.
A good friend of mine used to say:
"Those that Matter, don't mind and those that Mind, don't matter."
Doesn't help the hurt but does work as sort of a Mantra.
