Rules Of "Hook Ups" .....FWB.....??

Ok, so Artchick had a good question....what is the difference between a hook up or fwb?  I want to go further and know if there are any set rules some may go by?  Is anyone looking to hook up looking no further for anything more?


For those of us away from the dating scene for so long.....times have changed so much. In the day of instant gratification but fear of stds or worse, what are the unsaid guidelines?   In the old days, third date was the charm. Nowadays I worry I may need a hazmat suit (which will definitely not compliment the lingerie.lol)


Seriously though...casual dating does sound good, but if we are older, is that expected,frowned upon...??? Once I am finally free again (if I am able to muster up the courage to be myself and step back into life again)   I don't want to be a prude...or a ho.   Any input would be appreciated here....

A hook up is more of a one night stand, whereas fwb’s are ppl yr friends with & sleep with & it’s ongoing.

Jillsaundars, things really are different in America. Most women around these parts take a few weeks to see if the guy is genuine and then slowly start warming up to some intimacy. It's perfectly normal for that to happen between 2 to 6 weeks. Months, usually not, though it depends on the person.

I once had a Christian friend who was male. He was floored when by boyfriend moved here from England and we got married. It seems my Christian friend thought the two of us were dating for two years. My view was that he was that pushy friend that liked to invite himself to my house, hang out, eat all my food, and call at odd hours. It honestly never occurred to me that he thought our relationship was dating.

It takes all sorts to make the world go round.

Well if I wasn't traumatised and healthy in that area I bet I'd be doing it On that time scale too, but caring good men are willing to take there time with me to help me overcome my issues is all I wanted to say

Jill I don't claim to be a mind reader or anything, but by the third or fourth time with a lady I know if I have feelings for her or not...After several weeks it becomes more of a life style with two people, certainly not a romantic relationship..

Had sex with my now husband on our first date. We had met a week before that. I guess had we not kept seeing each other, it would have been a hook up.

Friends with benefits... why would I want to have sex with a friend? I mean, isn’t not having sex with them sort of why they are friends?

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
