Take the bus, a cab or uber to the salon.
I work hard and on my days off I just want to relax, not drive all over the place.
I know he should help you, but I think asking him to drive to the nail salon a bunch of people is kind pushing it.
I am in a very similar situation to you, in that, I don't have my licence and my husband usually gives me lifts . However, there is a key difference. My husband only gives me lifts when he can and it doesn't disturb his routine too much.
90% of the rest of the time, I am on my own- public transport/ cabs or plain old walking.
Not meaning to attack you at all, but your post comes off as you feeling entitled to lifts and rides off your partner. Is that the case? Do you feel, due to him having a licence and you not, that he is obligated to drive you around?
If that is the case, then I am afraid I can see your partner's point. It isn't very fun, having to drive someone to a nails appointment and then picking them up again after an hour.
Please, re read what you have written here- you admit he rarely says no, isn't it perhaps fairer for you to ask less of him and thank him profusely on the occasions that he does help?
Ok first and foremost this is NOT to attack/put you down in anyway, you need to learn how to depend on one person and that is you! I'm not attacking/putting down your man, but I tell all girls/women not to depend on a man because you never know what's going to happen, again not saying anything bad about him.
As far as getting from point A to B, I had don't have my license either and take public transportation. Is it a pain, yes sometimes but I do what I have to do with what I have at the moment. If you have insurance look into seeing if they have transportation for doc appointments. I'm sure they do since most of them do. I get 30 rides a year (15 there/15 back) and I don't ever use them all.
You definitely need to do things on your own so you're not dependent on him. Plus it feels good to not have to beg someone to get you places. And like others have said when you do that he won't be as cranky.
Be reasonable in your expectations of others.
I try my best to work around his schedule and fit his needs for other things. I try to be accepting when he cannot take me places. I wouldn't have posted about this if he hadn't mentioned the fact that my appointments are burdened.
He just recently bought a car, and before that he was using my mother's vehicle. It made me feel bad that he had put on the table that thought these errands were a burden. I don't always expect much of him, as I always try my hardest to put him first, as I do with others. I'm sorry if I came off rude, disrespectful and brat.
This occasion was for my little sister's birthday, and the day before her and my cousin had worked hard to clean the house under his wishes. Once again, I'm sorry for coming off as a snobby person, and I thank you all for responding to my post. I hope you will understand what I mean in this reply.
So yes, he is running errands for you. That is what he is doing. I think it is you who is assigning triviality to errands. And sometimes errands can be a burden. Especially if he has already committed to two errands that day. How much of his time was already committed to running errands for you? An hour, two, four? How much of HIS time was he offering for your disposal? And a trip to the nail salon for three women would run an hour or more. Probably two hours if my experience at nail salons is anything to go on.
And how often do you express your appreciation to him? Not just a "thanks for the lift".
How I express my appreciation for him? I cook for him, I clean for him, I listen to him, I do his laundry. Why couldn't my mother or grandmother take me? Considering they both were at the hospital, my mother could not take my little sister, cousin and I. My mother usually tries to take me to my appointments, so I don't have to further 'burden' him.
My boyfriend does not pay bills. He does not currently have a job. He goes to school on Mondays and Wednesdays, and every day other than those two days, he spends the day off. I was asking these 'burdens' of him on days he was not going to school. Every other day, he could be caught lounging in the room in my grandmother's house, playing a video game I probably bought him as a 'thanks' for everything he does.
Do not assume that I ask for everything and give NOTHING in return. Thank you for your comment expressing how you can work Google and search the definition of a word I learned in third grade. :)
Wishing you well.
