Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Yes tumeric is considered an anti inflammatory. So is ginger but both of them can aggravate the stomach lining. But not everyone reacts to tumeric and their stomachs may be able to handle it. The only way to know for sure if it bothers your stomach is to have it on its own after of few days of no symptoms at all. Then you know for sure. It is possbile it is aggravating your stomach and you dont know it.
I put some in my smoothies and then there is a good chance it wont cause any problems because of all the other stuff in the smoothies. It just gets buried.
Bit of a font of all knowledge you are xx
I avoided ginger for a long time and I love the stuff! Now I put it in boiled water and I am fine and can handle some in my food but I am always careful with it as I am tumeric.
It is frustrating that I cant eat a ton of these foods that are good for the body. I just have small amounts every day instead. Garlic is the same for me. It is so good for you but it will give me heartburn. I can handle a bit only and I still mainly avoid it! Too much ginger is scary for me too!
I do think heartburn and reflux are an easier journey. Gastritis is a big challenge. The stomach takes longer to heal.
All the best for 2016!
