Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
This gets way better the more disciplined you are. Then your anxiety starts to slow as you take control of this issue.
Try doing a lot of relaxation stuff. Anxiety can make symptoms worse.
There is hope. You will get back to exercising etc but maybe never having a few beers! Some things you have to try to never have again.
Once you have inflammation of the stomach and it seems healed for a long time it can slowly come back if you treat yourself too much. But it can be close to normal with a lot of hard work.
This is a practice in patience!
If I am experiencing a lil slight burn should I pop a Zantac 150 now?
He told me in the past to take Zantac when I have flare up but I was assuming he meant flare ups with regards to my stomach and not the acid reflux/esophagus stuff since that was not really happening at all. It had always been mainly my stomach.
I had plain oatmeal.. used soy milk in it and never used butter etc..
A HH makes this all more challenging but it can be done. I remember you have a small one too. It makes you prone to heartburn which then can turn into gastritis.
You will go backwards if you dont. then wean off Zantac
Blh I would take the Zantac it couldn't hurt until you hear back from the doctor....I didn't mean to freak you out and we all respond/heal differently to the same situation....I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you start to have a lot of acid issues after quitting the PPI
Your stomach is prone to inflammation for a while even after the symptoms are gone.
You have to be really careful when tapering off.
Dexilant is a good med. Very effective but the big challenge is when you stop taking it. You have to be even more careful with the diet and take Zantac twice a day and then reduce the amount of zantac.
Just try to not go backward again but it happens a lot. You get better at this over time.
I am a pro on reflux and only had gastritis twice and got rid of it quickly. That is the key with gastritis. It has to be eliminated fast.
Karadura.. do you prop up at night? Once you stop taking anything you will have to prop up all the time. Or acid will come up all night long. You have to stop eating by around 5 pm also to be acid free overnight. It is a challenge. I just eat a lot in the morning and eat less as the day goes on and stop around 5 pm.
A HH can get smaller as well. I am pretty sure mine is but stress makes the stomach move up more. You have to manage stress as best as you can.
I went to a chiro and I was skeptical totally that he could do anything for the HH but I am pretty sure it helped now.
Hang in there it will get a lot better!
