Thinking of picking up some salmon for dinner...throw a little season and a lil butter with some broccoli. I will probably eat a lil banana later.

No I have not....toast does not sit well with me even before the Gastritis.

what is your normal dinner?

Sometimes I eat rice with chicken (seasoned with tumeric and paprika) or with lean steak and potatoes. I used to eat salads but not anymore lettuce feels sharp and sticky in the throat. Other things I eat for dinner are Tilapia fish, chicken noodle soups. My wife worries that I may be limiting too much but I am afraid of trying new things....(no coffee or soda, no choc or spicy foods....) not super bland diet but def on the safe side...

I occasionally will treat myself to a treat...for example buffalo chicken wrap at Buffalo Wild Wings with honey barbeque. Or once in awhile I will consume a beer....but has that has been very minimal. Hoping one day I can get off work one day and go to the bar with some friends or a girl and kick back a couple beers.

Yeah I cant wait to go back into playing sports (volleyball) and hanging out with people without worrying about the stomach....how long have you been dealing with this? sounds like you are in a good place with it ...

Just under 2 years. I feel I am getting there. I am really trying to be careful while I deal with the anxiety and stress I am putting on myself. I feel that is totally where my anxiety came from. What about you?
How long? What do you think brought it on?

Started last July after taken antibiotics+another med (flagyl which is another antibiotic)...did all the of the tests and gastritis (plus a heital hernia) was the only things that showed up...yeah I definitely feel that the anxiety is from the gastritis...I never had anxiety before until I went down this road....probably the stress of the waves of pain/nausea coming and going....I've been enjoying a good period (3 weeks now) pain/nausea free.....do you have any sleeping problems? seems like when my belly acts up and keeps up all nite then the symptoms flare up....

For the last couple days I get a very mild discomfort in the morning just before I am waking up. They say your stomach does a lot of its churning/secreting in the early morning/late night hour. I am not on any meds at the moment. GI doctor advised me to stop taking Omeprazole after being on that for quite awhile. Told me to take Zantac as needed now and I am being careful. When they did my endoscopy that saw mild gastritis still (that was at the end of September) but I also seem to of had some bile showing up. My regular doctor today prescribed me a med for bile reflux and wants me to take that for 30 days to see if that makes a difference. Lately my last week has been pretty good but I have not pushed the envelope. We shall see. My blood work has been the best its been in over 3 years so that is a good thing. All things are healthy with that. But I would like the freedom of eating with more independence and be able to enjoy it. Be nice to have a mocha frappuccino from Starbucks while I read a book or something but too worried about the repercussions of that. But maybe one day.

Yeah lets have patience and hope for the best...I used to enjoy my coffee so much (haven't had a cup since July) ...be super careful when you quit the ppi I tried to quit after getting the same advise from the GI and I only lasted a week before all hell started to break loose....now I am on 60mg Dexilant in the AM and 25mg amitriptylene at lunch....I will stay on this for a while until things get better.

When you say only lasted a week and on hell started....what were you experiencing?

Well I stopped taking the nNexium as the doctor recommended and only took Zantac (ranitidine) 150mg in the mornings and at nights...after a week, I started to have a lot of acid reflux (where the acid comes up the esophagus) on the seventh day the acid was creeping up almost all the way up so I decided to jump back on the Nexium OTC but it seemed like it was not enough to reduce the acid production...so I asked my GI if i can be on something stronger so he put me on Dexilant (been on that for 3 weeks...was on the Nexium since August)...in any case....I have read on other websites that Bile can actually cause gastritis do you think this can be the case?

its funny you say that because I have felt like for the last couple days I have been getting some slight burning in my throat.

yeah its probably the acid rebound effect where the stomach is unleashed from the acid suppression by the PPI....that is why it is recommended to taper off slowly as opposed to cold turkeying it ....that's why I said to be careful....when I get to a better place where I can quit the PPI I will throttle it down gradually....you don't want to undo all of the healing progress by letting the acid damage the lining again....
