Yes, it's been super quiet here. It is like a brand new group starting all over again. The "update" really knocked our group out.

I am seven years postop as of August 2nd and I joined a couple of months before that in June. I stop by every day to check on what's going on usually in the morning. Like you, I have received so much help from this group and really want to give back. I think it's important to have good support along our journey. I don't know what I would have done without this group.

I am 3. weeks from RNY surgery and feel GREAT

Surgery was a piece of cake (sorry:)
Very little pain, home after one night.
Liquids went down with no problems and now close to starting soft foods.
Left hospital off of all diabetes and hypertension meds
Have lost 20 lbs since surgery
Best thing I have every done

Congratulations traveler! No need to be sorry because your surgery went well. That's a good thing! Mine went great too!

I am still in the process off all the preopp appointments before surgery. Go in for my 2nd nutrition appointment monday the 14th!

I'm here pretty new to the group just joined 6/29/17. I'm scheduled for RNY on 9/22. I finish my 3 month pre-op program on 8/31 and on 9/1 I have pre admission testing. I was stopping by every day and then things got really crazy here, but now I want to get back to stopping by. I really missed all the support on here. I don't have a large support network and that is why I joined. I am so glad I did!

OMG-I finally managed to get into this group! It took forever to get it right...and I have a college degree and am considered a computer whiz. I am 59 yo and 2 months post-RNY. It's been so easy I questioned if they really did anything while in surgery. I returned to the gym 1 week after surgery (a record for my gym:). I've only dropped 20 lbs since surgery but lost 20-25 lbs before surgery and I'm down about 3 sizes already. My husband tells people that he tries to swat my butt and keeps missing....love that man! I'm 5'7" and started at 259 lbs. I have come off insulin and down to 1 metformin daily. I have had no heartburn though I still take the Prilosec twice daily. My only complication has been several major bouts of constipation that took several suppositories and several enemas to clear up. I've chosen to upchuck a few times (3 or 4) to eliminate discomfort after eating too much or too fast or not chewing enough. It has been easy upchucks compared to the GERD upchucks before surgery. I love having skinny ankles and buying yard-sale clothes for 25 cents in all the various sizes I am headed toward. I love having enough energy to do more things.
Hang in there with all the pre-op requirements...it's really worth it in the long run!

1) Where are you on your journey (e.g. considering gastric bypass, pre op, post- op)?
Considering, tentatively said Yes for gastric bypass, have chosen to go with Roux-En-Y (RNY) as the others appear to have some cons such as slippage of band, internal intestinal hernia's etc.

One online form for information and registration to view Dr. George Petrou's videos, next day the reception rang and discussed some basics, they have sent through a heap of forms and information. Tentative surgery date for me is 8th November 2017, paperwork partially done, now for payment $25,000, this is the bit that is really hurting me, so much money, such a drastic step, will it all be worth it, will it all work out? I have no clue and I hate very deep water and the creatures that lurk in them.

It is all happening so fast, my head is still spinning

I would think more often than not, hard to say current time. The site is in my password manager with auto login :-)

4) Why are you here?
To see what others have gone through and to join those that are just starting this life long journey.

Support from others in the similar boat as myself, I have not discussed this with anyone in my life, not even my GP as yet, not even my family know as yet, I am estranged from them all, really the black sheep like my uncle has always been.

Densue, 20 lbs in two months is awesome! My doctor said I could take Prilosec the rest of my life. The problem with that is that it contributes to osteoporosis. I had to stop it when I got my last bone density test. I hope you are taking your vitamins. Daily fiber and drinking all of our water takes care of any constipation. I add renew life organic fiber to my morning protein shakes. Yes even at 7 years I still drink my protein shakes. Congratulations on getting off the drugs and enjoying the energy of a lighter body!

My surgery is on 09/01/17. I M also on the preop liquid diet. I must say the first days was very hard. I am use to drinking a soda, every day. Now, i dont miss it. I am looking to feel healthier. I know this is just a tool. Im willing to put in the work for a better lifestyle change.

Hello, I am Julie or Jewely... I joined this group about two weeks ago. I had a vertical sleeve on Aug 7 2017. I had no complication and very little pain post op. I will be stopping in hopefully once a day. I joined this group to get suggestions, support and be of any help to anyone else. So far on my journey, I have lost a total of 42 lbs, but only 21 lb since surgery. ( I lost 21 lbs in the first days, now, almost 4 weeks out and I have not lost any since Aug 19, I can only assume this is normal?) I struggle with the protein drinks, it just does not settle in my tummy very well this week. and i have been getting nauseated. But not when I eat. Several hours after eating. Other than that. I am happy with the journey so far. I look forward to seeing everyone's posts.
