Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

Good morning. So much for sleep. Bloody stupid fibro settled into the arm that was sprained last summer in saving MOm from rolling into traffic in her wheelchair (for those not enlightened: Assume getting one's arm sprained from neck to wrist takes a looooong time to really calm down....).... Then had the "gotta get up and use the toilet every ten minutes" issue b/c these da*n broths are.... Well.... TMI.... Whine whinge moan groan sniffle stomp, okay, tantrum kinda sorta over...
***
What was my day like... For starters, I spilled a cup of hot chocolate, and did so on a book ironically or perhaps karmically titled "Spillover". Full cup. No chocolate, no book. For freaking real, no joke. Only thing more fitting would've been "The Flood" or maybe "The Life of Milton S. Hershey"...?

So to make myself grateful I watched a bunch of episodes of a show called "Naked & Afraid", to remind myself I am blessed in having food and clothes and so on, and it mostly worked. I also kinda wanted to strangle a few people, but that's b/c anyone who is in a survival situation and claims any expertise but *ignores cattails* is essentially an idiot. I'm a novice and I know about that. C'mon already. Sheesh. See? Improved my mood. I feel alllll superior now. Seriously, tho', I can't imagine any reason to volunteer for a survival challenge show where they take your clothes, and leave you one "survival item" (how about my shoes?!) and drop you in Zambezi or the Amazon. The show's producers have been bitten by deadly-venomous snakes, attacked by swarms of killer bees... All this for.... Uh.... Someone getting the bragging rights of surviving "21 days, Naked... and Afraid!"...
And if I had a tenner for every time someone strides onto the show saying, "I'm gonna make Nature my bitch"... I could afford the doc visits I needed this last month. Nature is no one's "bitch". Especially if you walk into Nature stark freaking naked, carrying a little hemp-woven bag that holds maybe a machete or a fire-starter. The production crew is there in case of medical or safety emergency (e.g., flooding or appendicitis), but.... You naked. Shoeless. In Nature. Yeah, good luck, Captain Caveman.
I say all that smugly for two reasons. One, I don't even (or didn't used to) do even a few hours of hiking on a well-known trail without enough in my little daypack/bookbag type backpack to sustain me at least 24 hours, with 3 days' worth of meds. Every year, wherever I've lived, there's at least one or two if not more "And they found the body" reports of people who didn't do that, and were *on familiar ground*. Second, I'm not dumb-ass enough to think I'm getting anywhere with anything minus my clothes and shoes and gear. Nope nope nope. I got the mental toughness, maybe, but I prefer to never need to find out.
And I rant on because I"mt oo tired to even think of trivia beyond what spins in my trivia-laden brain.
Like: Who the hell cares if you're a great hunter with a bow and arrow or gun? You're naked. You are unarmed. Bows and arrows you buy at th estore are *not* what you can make out of "whatever I find handy". Mighty hunter, meet reality. And reality is, you will be happy to catch frogs. Yech.
Or: If these people have primitive survival skills, then how the hell do they not realize a steel blade on their precious machete is... only in need of a fine-grained crystalling mineral type stone? You don't need flint, even. Anything fine-grianed works, particularly *quartz*, a very common rock. Or just keep trying rocks that are the right kind of hardness and texture. If---and if---you really have skills, then this is the kind even a *lousy* Boy Scout used to learn in Hubby's day. But no. It's hand drills, bow drills, fire plows, blah blah blah... And I'm sitting here thinking.... "You have a flipping machete and you're by a creek bank covered in rocks to try. Hello? Why spend hours sawing two sticks together?"
And: What is the obsession with eating tons of meat? MOre calories wasted hunting than gained, and they walk right past non-animal food sources. Obvious ones. No one can live on, say, bananas and coconuts alone.... But for 3 weeks? Cope.
THen: What idiot says fast-running water is cleaner? Who invented that myth? Water is clean only when it falls out of a cloud into your mouth, no stops in between, or you boiled it. That's it. No negotiation. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Ain't no clean water where anything peed or pooped. Aeration kills *some* things, but not all things. And if you've got a pool of water, I don't care how clean it is to start, once your nasty naked body wades around in it up to teh waist, you have contaminated it. Ew. Drinking where you washed your bits? Yuck!
***
And thus I close on... Don't you feel glad you have clothes, faucets, et cetera? I sure as heck do!
Go forth and be at ease:-)

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...
Leo your post literally made me laugh out loud. I watch naked and afraid mostly to mock the people... lol. But also in case i pick up some handy survival stuff (hasn't happened yet, but I'm optimistic.)
After only a few hours of sleep since all.of the kids are still sick, though getting better, i worked for 8 hours... boo. At least my pain is still under control for the time being. Hubby is out of town working for the entire weekend, so this should be fun... insert eye roll here. I have to clean the entire house (or try to) because my mom is too lazy. I get that she has fm, too and that she has been having really bad flare ups lately, but to leave trash all over the kitchen and not just put the dishes in the dishwasher is going beyond my mental capacity to be nice anymore. If I had other childcare right now, i would seriously be asking her to move out... rant over.
Now I'm off to make sure the kids cleaned their rooms and feed the baby.
Autumn, I am thankful for this group too. I'm glad you're a part of it.
Miki, I hope your throbbing pain is better today and the thoughts about your crappy ex are gone. He is an ex for a reason, don't waste anymore time or thought on him. Hugs
zombie, yay for the walk.
Blue, I'm glad you got a date night with your husband on Friday. I hate loud noises and my husband actually brought that up in counseling like I was so terrible b/c I can't stand his radio being loud in the car. I hope yesterday was good for you.
Milily, I hope you're feeling better today and you got some sleep.
Chelsea, I'm sorry everyone is still sick. I hope things turnaround for the better today. I can't believe you have to cleanup after your mother too. You stay so busy.
Angela, I know how you feel and it's a hard place to be in. I hope things get better today, your sugar lowers, and your pain decreases. Prayers for you!
Yesterday was too busy for me plus it ended very badly. A fight with my husband b/c I'm not allowed to be depressed or have anxiety. The depression stemmed around me not being able to find anything cute to wear to the mall, and then anxiety from the hard day on my body and mind. No church this morning. I will watch online and get groceries today. I feel so overwhelmed, prayers would be appreciated.
Hugs to all of you incredibly strong people.
Am surviving it here so far, tired and sore but still having some fun. It's hard to peck on phones. As we all know. :-). Just wanted you all to know that I'm still kicking...and losing my retirement funds at an alarming rate ;-).
Hoping everyone finds a way to have some fun today,
Kel
Off to clean up the kitchen after breakfast and keep the laundry moving. Hugs to everyone.
Kel, yay love the stop-by from Vegas. I hope you're enjoying your time and staying out of trouble, hearing retirement funds isn't exactly inspiring. haha Good luck
Chelsea, cleaning up after your kids ANd your mom? Have you talked with her about that?
Angela, sorry your pain is high today. Take it easy. I hope it eases up on you.
Twin, your husband can be such a punk! He should pick on someone his own size! Sometimes I feel like tarring people like that just so they know how miserable we feel. I will be praying for you today. I have a similar problem with my husband when my PTSD is acting up or my pain is high and he'll make me feel bad for feeling bad. I'm supposed to be a "perfect" person around him and have a constant smile, but he's allowed to mess up all he wants and I can't say anything? That's something I have yet to bring up in counseling.
Kel, I'm glad you're having fun in Vegas :). Try to leave some of your retirement in tact lol
Fantod, I hope this means your knee is on the road to recovery! :)
My husband waited till late afternoon to make his run to home depot and instead worked on the chalk board all day (we have a chalk board at home for his online chemistry videos, the cost of chalk board was one of our huge fights actually). So we didn't put the lattice up yet. He's been obsessed with the chalk board ever since spring break let out, so I'm starting to wonder if we'll spend much time together at all. The process of recording one of his online chemistry videos can take days - weeks (there was one video that took months and every time I asked to spend time with him, he acted like I was interfering with his "work"). He wants the perfect chalk board for the video so he'll erase and do it over till it looks perfect to him. Then he'll want the perfect video so he'll record his session multiple times till he finds a video he likes. Then he'll edit it which takes time too. He doesn't get paid for any of this, it's just a hobby of his.
I just doodled around the house all day yesterday, did some laundry, brushed the cats and clipped their claws, swept the catio & living room, took a little walk, etc. Then realized at dinner time that I forgot I was supposed to run an errand to a church and pick up some food we paid for during their fund raiser. Oops. We'll probably borrow a hole digger from someone today to stick the posts in the ground for that lattice.
Angela, I hope the steroids will help your back some. Back pain is dreadful. Sounds like rest is in order after so many hours of testing. Have a good day.
Zombiekitten, yaaay for walk. A mile and a half is not a teeny-tiny accomplishment in my view. Good for you. I know the feeling of no money to celebrate things. Happy birthday to your hubby, though.
Des, that indecisive weather indeed sounds terrible for fibro problems. I hope your hands will feel better soon - it's so frustrating for something so pivotal in daily life to be bothersome.
Maynard, I strongly dislike celebrating my birthday, and though I'm no man, a day of lasagna and video games would be a fine way for me to spend it, too. :) Though luckily my partner would enjoy that day with me. Much commiseration on the work anxiety. I had that with my last job when I was forced to work 40 hours a week (after a job of 6 hours a week.) I was a wreck. Good luck with everything.
Twin, when facing busy days I also get a lot of anxiety. And my pain always seems to spike just as we walk out the door - the terrible power of the anxious mind. I'm sorry your husband was being like that. Ridiculous. Someone feeling depressed or anxious? Surely me attacking them on that will make them feel better! Ugh. You're in my thoughts.
Bobbi, time to hire someone to follow you around with a desk chair so you can plop down whenever you need. Hopefully you managed to have a restful weekend with as little pain as possible.
AutumnSong, I'm pretty good at keeping perspective, but starting the day with a gratitude exercise might be good for me anyway. :) I hope you'll have a better night's rest, and that those sunny days will come soon. My partner and I both aren't fans of broccoli, but she says she didn't mind when I made a soup from it. Hope it was lovely.
Miki, it makes sense that such realizations are upsetting. Sorry to hear of the poor night's sleep. It has only happened a few times, but my older cat that I don't have as good a relationship with has in the past come up to me to lie on me in awkward ways she never would - perfectly covering the one spot that was in agony in that moment. Heart-warming and amazing. I hope the spin class can be a stress reliever for you. Take care.
Blue, I'm happy to hear your date went okay. Honestly, supposed normal people are the strange ones to me, haha. Having a hobby is fun, but it's sad that your husband's hobby interferes with your time together. I taught myself to edit videos, and it can be hugely time intensive.
Milly, I hope you'll feel better soon. Yogurt is always a go-to for me during stomach problems. Sometimes a shower has to wait - it takes a lot of energy. Get well soon.
Chelsea, it's understandable that you'd feel the need to rant about such behaviour. My older sister is prone to such things in the house of my parents. It boggles the mind. Take care and hope you enjoy your weekend.
Kel, glad to hear you're still having some fun, though sorry about the fatigue and soreness - however expected those two travel guests are. Good luck in Vegas, I'm sure you'll come back with double your retirement funds. ;)
Fantod, I won't jinx anything by saying "yaaay" about your knee. *goes "yaaaay" mentally, instead* Though I would feel very bad for you, I would totally watch Fantod and Partner VS Raccoon. I'll buy a Team Fantod shirt. Down with the raccoons!
I slept surprisingly well last night - I think I woke up less than five times, so it can be chronicled in the history books as a miracle night. Back pain woke me up, though. Back pain has been on the increase over the past two years in the area of my scoliosis spine defect. When it gets quite bad, I feel strange electrical feeling, and that spot on my spine feels wet in those moments even when dry. Brought it up with a GP once, but pretty much shrugged and said it's nothing. Then why does my back seem to be deteriorating?
Things aren't going great. I'm struggling a lot more with depressive feelings lately. Trying to find a job is depressing (and humiliating, with how pathetic my resume is.) Being told how the state doesn't care about me is depressing. Writing symptom lists for my Big Second Opinion Quest is depressing. And being depressed always turns out to be really depressing. Who'd-a thunk it!
My gratitude for the day is my relationship, DS, and not being as twisted up as I was in my teens, no matter how bad things are now. I guess the only positive thing about unpleasant past events is that I always carry memories to compare other unpleasant events to. Now is still better than then, so I suppose it's a nett gain in life? I'll just tell myself yes.
Enjoy whatever is left of the weekend, everyone. And a wave to any lurkers, hope you are well, too.
Sonya, yes, normal people are the strange ones, I agree. I'm glad you got some good sleep last night. I'm sorry your back pain is increasing. I get the wet sensations too, btw. I'm not sure what it is, either. Sometimes I get it on my butt and and panic thinking I've had an accident, but don't find anything there. I'm sorry you're depressed lately.... I wish I knew how to give your mood a boost. I'm glad for DS, too. I also tend to compare today to my past and feel grateful I'm not there anymore. Biggest hugs and hope your week goes smoothly!
After only 4 hours of sleep, i am sooo tired. I made myself get outside and play with the kids... still haven't managed to clean very much. I am having a pretty bad skin sensitivity and knee pain day today. :( The hubby finally came home, but is no help bc he is tired...
I have spoken to my mom about her mess many times. It usually just starts a fight and adds more stress on me, so I've given up a direct approach and instead just make passive aggressive comments all the time, lol.
I'm off of here for now because I have to go to the store since hubby is too tired... I'm tired, too, but apparently since i didn't work for 14 hours yesterday, my exhaustion and pain doesnt count...
Wishing everyone a good rest of the night!
