Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

Good morning. It's 5 AM. I've been up since 330. one of those fun "vague weird just won't back off fibro" pain things. Nothing worked so I got up, tried heat, ice, gentle stretches, took a short walk (that was fun for anyone watching: sleep-deprived me staggering around the block in my PJs in the pitch dark).... Nada.
Considering a flyer:
Lost: Sleep.
If found, please return. Reward? I stop bitching about it.

Today in 1733, Joseph Priestley invented carbonated (seltzer) water. Why? B/c he could.
Priestley's big claim to fame (other than being a clergyman whose official sect was "Dissenters")? He has a claim to discovering oxygen in its gas state. He also rejected the whole concept of what we cutely call the "chemical revolution", which kinda killed his career in, y'know, chemistry. In his era, the reformulation of ideas of chemicals and so forth was blooming/booming, and becoming something far more precise and far less like Dark Ages alchemy, especially in terminology. Priestley didn't really like that. He stuck to being famous for seltzer water, writing on electricity, and surrendering the pulpit for a more secure (better-paying) living.
Who did profit from the seltzer water thing? JJ Schweppe, as in Schweppe's ginger ale (yep, still that name on the label). He failed utterly at first to market carbonated mineral water as a health tonic, but Erasmus Darwin talked it up and eventually people decided it was great.
Erasmus, btw, was Charles Darwin's grandfather. Other than that, I got nothin'.
In 1894, Montreal and Ottawa battled it out for the first Stanley Cup playoff (hockey).
In 1895, the Lumieres invited a select audience to their first movie, in Paris, France. For those who are utter movie nerds, this is *not* where Disney got the name "Lumiere" for the candlestick in "Beauty and the Beast".... LUmiere is just French for "light". Punny name, like "Cogsworth" for a clock, Mrs. Potts for the teapot, and so forth. The Lumiere brothers, the real-live ones, that is, were noted for being among the first to see the commercial profit potential of the infant cinema industry.

OK, I'm dropping, tho' I can't sleep, so off to give it another whirl. Or, in this case, another twist-toss-turn.
Cheers and chocolate to your day!

Oh, we did hear Boris Johnson's tenure ended due to a series of ethics scandals, accusations of dishonesty and a final collapse of government support that forced his recognation. My cat is going on trial for crimes against skink-anity. SIX in six weeks. Three this last week alone. The crack is maybe 1/4 inche wide. Maybe. Skink skitters past, her paw shoots out, her claw hooks in, she yanks, and somehow, having defied physics... WHAM. Skink-o-rama.Now, don't get me wrong, it's nice that she's a pesticidal maniac, but OMG. Skinks do no harm. They don't come inside. WTF.So,...

And I'm praying you get some answers today with your blood work. Sorry that missing work just means...more work. I feel that way around here sometimes.
Maynard, you don't need to apologize about not sharing much here. It's hard and we all understand. And like you, when more and more stress evolve, more and more of my anxiety symptoms surface. I was told once by my doc that anxiety and depression symptoms manifest themselves to mimic each other but they are different. I feel the same at times also. Hope the doc can lend you some answers today too.
BBMom, if Tylenol PM isn't working, try swapping it out for Benadryl, It's the same ingredient that makes you sleepy. And in a tylenol PM, it's only 1/2 the dose for adults. 1 pill vs 2 pills. All OTC sleep aids are a form of benadryl until you use supplements. This is what I found from my research. Valerian root helps you to remain asleep. Melatonin helps you to fall asleep, Passion Flower, 5HTP/tryptophan, L-theanine, and there are a few others help you to relax your body/mind to turn it off so you can drift off to sleep. The hard part of about the supplements is that you need to keep a fairly strict sleep regimen to make it work. For example, Melatonin, needs about 30-60 minutes to work. And it won't start working until you turn down all of the lights. Where as OTC benadryl just conks you out. If it doesn't make you jittery.
Either way, I hope you find some sleep and work gets better for you.
Is today Ida's moving day?
I "ptfo" last night early at 8pm. Although I "slept" It wasn't a restful sleep. Hubs said I was very twitchy again and this time my sparsity was too rigid for him to loosen. I feel it in my hands and forearms today.
Leo - Youre brave to head out that early in the AM - I commend you for it. I hope you get some shut eye soon.
Zombie - Cats are great and love how they can sense what we feel on the inside. I too am a crazy cat lady of two...
Bobbii - Yes the sun! That giant light bulb up there was amazing yesterday and as returned again today. I am feeling less vampireish about it and trying to embrace it... my boss found me curled up on break by the window absorbing it like a cat would. Needless to say there is blackmail photos now...
PuppyMom - Yay for a new pup and boo for husbands reaction. I am glad the new doctor is being proactive and recognizes the other neuro may have not been a good source. Do you think the hubs is taking the "news" a bit hard and that is why he doesn't want you to go back? I only ask as I had a somewhat similar situation with my first neuro saying it was all "mental emotional" because my MRI did not show lesions. He was a bit of an ass and didn't run any additional tests after my first visit. I took it as maybe he was right, but my husband went on a tangent. But when my Rheum told me he was referring me to a neuro specialist in a condition he felt it was, my husband took a moment to come around to it.
Autumn - gentle hugs and healing to you!
Gentle hugs all!
Going back to bed, actually, but quick hugs to all....
I had PT this morning which was train wreck. I cried due to exhaustion and frustration. Activity before the crack of Noon does not agree with me under ideal circumstances. Going to buy some Benedryl to see if that knocks me out. I had to stop Ativan due to GI issues.
Leo - My partner has read recipes to me which knocked me right out. Going to try and nap. Hugs to all of you!
Sorry your fibro pain is still keeping you up, Leo. I hope it gives you a break soon. My PTSD counselor gave me a couple of CD's that are supposed to knock you out. One is just music on it (I tried last night) and the other one is a man talking that I haven't tried yet. The music sounded like harp stuff, it was ok, better than listening to the annoying sounds coming from my husband. Btw, hubby said back in the day, they used to get seltzer water from naturally carbonated springs (I guess before that guy invented the manmade stuff).
Mtnfibro, nice to see you. It's amazing how docs can come to a fabulous discovery and break it to you as if you haven't been trying to tell them all along. lol
ZK, and you've tried OTC sleep aids too? That's such little sleep, you poor thing. Enjoy your purring kitty :)
Bobbii, that's awful. My husband left his alarm the other morning too and I couldn't figure out where it was (must have fallen behind something). >:(
I feel like I may have overdone it a bit yesterday. Got my hair cut, then had to go back as the lady missed a spot. Then drove in town to meet my husband for lunch. His lunch was rushed since he was busy (wish he would have told me)... but he asked me to park in a specific place and said it would be closer to his office. But it felt like I walked the entire length of campus and was dying by the time I got there.
After lunch I walked into the veterans resource center on campus to ask about my GI bill and Bible college... they said I had to sign up online. I was there for over an hour, mostly just trying to figure out a password that the system would take. But then the counselors there told me to put everything on hold till I find out if the Bible college here is even operational (they've haven't been doing classes for a while) and if they can take the GI bill at all.
Then I went to the drug store and grocery store for a few items. When I got home there was a package waiting for me that my mom signed for. It was from overseas. It contained a couple documents that weren't in English and a couple un-cashed S.S. checks written out to my father. From what I could conclude, one of the documents was my father's death certificate. So we're going to make an appt with S.S. for tomorrow and bring them in.
I had a lot of anxiety last night. Not sure the exact source. There was a stranger on FB who called me a bunch of names and said "...if someone hasn't told you that recently, then it's time you should know." What does that even mean? I was distraught and angry about how people can treat other people like that. I didn't do anything mean to that person. I didn't deserve that. But posted a statement that I was leaving the group because of that. Had a hard time shaking the anxiety at bed time and was trying to figure out what was I so shaky about?
My husband and I have counseling today.
Back in a bit.
We hauled some stuff to the condo. I'll start off by saying it is absolutely beautiful. Huge rooms. Lovely. Now for the bad news. Whoever was here before us had cats. And they peed everywhere. The carpet is horrendous and the smell is disgusting. I am not so much a cat person, but for those of you with cats....how do you get rid of the smell? And who lets their cats pi$$ everywhere? I seriously need help guys. This place needs major cleaning.
I'll try to get back here tonight. Take care.
Ideally, the carpet should be ripped out and replaced. Shame on the landlord for not dealing with this issue prior to your arrival.. Cat pee is horrible if it isn't cleaned up and deodorized properly. I am really sorry that this has happened to you.
Kel, not sure I'd wanna walk your neighborhood at 4:30, wouldn't want to be someone's meal LOL
Twin, do you see an individual counselor? Maybe it would help to unload on someone about all your pain, anxiety and other stresses. I'm sorry you're having such a hard day. I wish you could work from home more often or cut back some hours to ease up on you. Hope to hear about your blood results. Sending lots of hugs and rainbows from Hawaii.
Wonder, enjoy your quiet day :)
BBmom, I"ve been getting vertigo too and I don't know where it's coming from. I hope you find something else that helps your sleep. Maybe you have to juggle them?
Sarafina, thanks for making everyone coffee ;)
Angela, hope your appts go well today.
Ida, how trashy of the landlord to not have that taken care of before your move in. I would agree with fantod in looking up a shampoo company. I would also talk to the landlord about talking the bill off your rent. Smh.
Fantod, sucks your knee is keeping you up. I hope benedryl or melatonin helps you get the sleep you need.
Terrible news from London today. One of my cousins was in the general vicinity when the attack occurred. She is
safe and home now. Hoping that it was an isolated incident. My heart goes put to the families who are affected.
Ida I hate when people don't take care of their animals. I lived in a house that was a total mess when we moved in. We had the carpets cleaned but ended up having to take them and the pad out because the people that lived there had rabbits that ran free in the house. We had to put Kills primer on the wood before replacing the carpet.
BlueSky I hope your counseling goes well today. It sounds like you ran yourself half to death yesterday. I hope your pain lets up.
Fantod I hope your knee lets up soon. It sounds like PT is a nightmare. Hugs.
Leo I listen to old tapes of professors ramblings to help me sleep. The more boring the better. I hope you break the insomnia and get restorative sleep soon.
Leo-i found your sleep, but i can't return it bc i needed it. Lol. Finally got 7 hours of sleep in last night. The trigger injections in my shoulders and the toradol shot really helped! I have felt a lot better the last 2 days. It was hubbys night with the baby, so i got more sleep. :) Now if icould only get rid of my headaches, i would be about 60% normal! Lol
Rant below.
It did take exactly 24 hours for the Drs office to call me back just to make an appointment. I have not experienced that before and I have seen many a Drs. I have only been there once, so far I am not impressed. They also lost my records , so my first appt the Dr has her noise out of joint and assumes my former office didnt send them. It took them 3 days to finally find my records and some scanning was done , but the nurse told me they were blank pages. So, I left their medical records yet another message - telling them to get their crap together in the nicest way possible. A few days later medical records calls and says all your records have been scanned. Hmm do I believe her - NO. I have a call into the Drs nurse to make sure the pages are not blank and I need to know if my last back MRI made it over there.
So, I will see how things go from here............. This Dr was the only one recommended and with a good reputation that was taking new patients. I called so many offices it was ridiculous. And her office is about 30 minutes away.
Have a good evening everyone
