Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

Good morning. It's 5 AM. I've been up since 330. one of those fun "vague weird just won't back off fibro" pain things. Nothing worked so I got up, tried heat, ice, gentle stretches, took a short walk (that was fun for anyone watching: sleep-deprived me staggering around the block in my PJs in the pitch dark).... Nada.
Considering a flyer:
Lost: Sleep.
If found, please return. Reward? I stop bitching about it.

Today in 1733, Joseph Priestley invented carbonated (seltzer) water. Why? B/c he could.
Priestley's big claim to fame (other than being a clergyman whose official sect was "Dissenters")? He has a claim to discovering oxygen in its gas state. He also rejected the whole concept of what we cutely call the "chemical revolution", which kinda killed his career in, y'know, chemistry. In his era, the reformulation of ideas of chemicals and so forth was blooming/booming, and becoming something far more precise and far less like Dark Ages alchemy, especially in terminology. Priestley didn't really like that. He stuck to being famous for seltzer water, writing on electricity, and surrendering the pulpit for a more secure (better-paying) living.
Who did profit from the seltzer water thing? JJ Schweppe, as in Schweppe's ginger ale (yep, still that name on the label). He failed utterly at first to market carbonated mineral water as a health tonic, but Erasmus Darwin talked it up and eventually people decided it was great.
Erasmus, btw, was Charles Darwin's grandfather. Other than that, I got nothin'.
In 1894, Montreal and Ottawa battled it out for the first Stanley Cup playoff (hockey).
In 1895, the Lumieres invited a select audience to their first movie, in Paris, France. For those who are utter movie nerds, this is *not* where Disney got the name "Lumiere" for the candlestick in "Beauty and the Beast".... LUmiere is just French for "light". Punny name, like "Cogsworth" for a clock, Mrs. Potts for the teapot, and so forth. The Lumiere brothers, the real-live ones, that is, were noted for being among the first to see the commercial profit potential of the infant cinema industry.

OK, I'm dropping, tho' I can't sleep, so off to give it another whirl. Or, in this case, another twist-toss-turn.
Cheers and chocolate to your day!

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...
Ive not walked around out side in the middle of the night though... not sure where you live, but in my area, rural as it is, it would not be safe. Be careful.
My area is safe-ish. At least at that hour, since everyone's either 1. sleeping 2. at work or 3. both. I don't dare it other than a narrow window of time.... Between 2 and 5 AM, basically.
Peace,
Leo
Boy, am I with you Leo! I think I could handle everything so much better if I could just sleep. And I'm one of those people that can't take medications to help; I hallucinate. >.<
Mnfibro, I'm with you on doctors and just wanting to say, "No duh." I am that way with mine too--you wonder why I feel the way I do? Walk a mile in these moccasins and see how well YOU do, Doc.
I got about....3 and a half hours last night. So much fun. On a good night I get about 5, but I average 3. I see my clock glowing as I toss and turn till about 2, then I sleep til 5 or so, and then I'm up. And then all day I just feel, in the words of Bilbo Baggins, "Like butter stretched out over too much bread."
On the bright side, I'm getting my morning thera-purr. My cat, Archie, is in my lap, purring. Cats are awesome.
Good day to all, and prayers for good nights to come.
Leo, I can walk my neighborhood any time, however this morning would be cold! Perhaps you can catch a nap later.
Mtnfibro, good to see you. Hope life is treating you kindly.
Zombie, wow that's not much sleep. I hope you can catch a break later.
Relatively quiet day ahead for me. I have a consultation this afternoon. Classes for tomorrow are prepped, seminar for tomorrow is prepped. Friday, I'll collapse from exhaustion.
I'm so ready for the warmer weather of spring. The sun yesterday was deceiving.
May your day be uneventful.
I have been following but not saying much. Last week my husband took me to a neuro Opthalmologist. It is his opinion that the problem is not with my eyes, but with my brain. He does believe there to be a physical problem and not symptoms of a mental health issue. He drew blood to make sure I do not have a vitamin deficiency causing my symptoms. Normally he would follow up by sending me to regular Neurology, but because that one already claimed that I did not have a problem he was unsure of his next move. My husband left the practice disgusted and said he never wanted me to go back but wouldn't share why.
The good news is that we have the new puppy. She is so many breeds she is a mutt. We are fostering for 2 weeks to make sure she gets along with our older dog. Well puppy adores her. She is not a big of a fan of puppy. But it's only been a few days, they are warming up still and I do see improvement.
OK off to get some work done.Back later
Leo-I hope you can get some rest today
Mtn-sometimes I wonder why doctors charge so much to tell us stuff like that
Zombie-I hope you enjoy the purr therapy...cats are awesome (I have 3 and I work with them)
Bobbi- Sorry your husbands alarm woke you up, I'm glad you have a calm day ahead of you
I'm off to tell my mom the same things I told her months ago about her puppy chewing his bed when he's in his crate, maybe this time she'll actually do it (it's the same stuff I do with my dog-leaving a shirt that smells like them in the crate, multiple chew toys so he has options, frozen kong that he only gets when he's in the crate so it's more valuable, tv or radio on, etc). Still in a ton of pain and still exhausted from the crazy dreams...hugs to everyone
I didn't find your sleep, but spent a lot of the night looking for it! Gin and I went shopping, out for dinner and visited Mom. When we got home, I had to wash some clothes. After that I "got tired of packing and unpacking" for Vegas. Finally got to bed about midnight...tossed and turned until 4:30. Lots of little sleep going around last night! :-) Oh, we can walk my neighborhood too but have bears just waking up and hungry and wolves running around. ALMOST positive that they wouldn't bother me though. :-)
mtnFibro,
It would be great if they could figure out this lack of sleep thing. I do take traz or I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't sleep at all.
Kitten,
My puppy, Spartacus, woke up with me this morn. The little bugger does make me smile!
I like your butter comment...very fitting.
Bobbii,
Glad to hear that you have a quiet day ahead! Try to kick back and relax as much as possible! We've been sunny and cold here also. It was 10 at my house this morning....welcome to spring! :-)
puppymom,
Sorry to hear that you are not getting the answers at the doc. I think we all have experienced that. Hopefully they'll be able to figure out something for you. When I was having seizures that my vision got wonky. Now that I'm taking a new and exciting med that problem has straightened out..at least for the most part.
Well..in a little over 12 hours I'll be on the way to Vegas. I'm not a great flyer...didn't fly at all for over 20 years... but have been doing better lately. Just breathe. :-) Gin has always had issues with me going on a guys trip...it's some kind of separation anxiety or something. It always causes me concern/anxiety for the first day or two. It will be fun..just got to get there now! :-) I have decided to give everything I win, after the first 10 million, to the group! Wish me luck!
Hope you all hit life's jackpot today!
Kel
Glad
mtnfibro, good one, I hate when doctors state the obvious back to me. Especially when I've been saying it for a while and then they act like they just got an euphony.
Zombie, the nights are so hard aren't they. I seem to average 4 hrs and then sometimes I get around 5 but it's generally up down up down most nights. Have you tried any natural sleep aids like Hylands Calm Forte?
puppymom, now if he could just get the neurologist to see what he thinks. Is there a way for him to contact them and tell them his findings and why he thinks it's the brain?
Miki, I hope your pain goes down and I'm sorry about the crazy dreams still. I would hate having them as often as you do. I'm sorry you keep getting them.
Well I'm off to see my doctor on bloodwork results for my hormones and thyroid. I hate when my schedule gets off and I have do more in my day. I'm in so much pain, and counseling was horrible again. I literally come out of there needing somebody to pick me back up. I need therapy after this marriage counseling. I don't want to keep doing this.
Blessings to everyone today.
Those are some great tips on how to lessen a pups anxiety when they are alone! Sorry to hear about your pain. My legs, especially my knees, are very sore today. I'll be sitting 3 hours in a shuttle, then another 3 in a plane...after standing in line to get through the check point/s. Am starting to wonder how things will go...:-) Hope you find some relief today!
I swear, I have the worst luck with this site and passwords. This time, it was something on my end that my hubster did that I wasn't aware of with our password stuff. Truly I do love him more than my pots and pans, LOL.
Today is just another day in paradise. Calm and quiet is what this momma needs. I've been helping Beans out with his multiplication and I think he's starting to catch on. I ordered some extra materials to help him. And Andypants his doing better with his tutoring (writing skills- he struggles getting his thought out).
Leo, so sorry Mr Sandman is MIA lately. I hate it when he does that. I stopped taking Benadryl a while ago and I've been struggling since trying various OTC supplements to help out. Not my best sleep. But I have this little pattern figured out. I run around on empty for about 3 days and then I just crash and burn.
I read that your SIL is coming....I'm so sorry!
mtnfibroguy, YES! I've had that moment (too many times) with my docs. Where you're left wondering how on earth did they pass their medical exams and who bought them that white coat?
Zombie, Now that I don't go anywhere much and the kids often ignore me (their pre-teen ages) I'm left here with the cats....and my husbter lovingly refers to me as the crazy cat lady because I send him pics each day at work of the crazy antics these to fluffernutters are up to.

Bobbi, Oh how I hate it when my hubby walks out w/out turning off the alarm. The alarm is only for him...(I never have to be anywhere early anymore) and it most often happens when I just have finally fell to sleep for the night. But I do make it a habit to wake up with him before he leaves for work each day to say good bye and to pray with him before he leaves. Hope all that you have planned for the day goes well.
Puppymom, so happy to hear that your not dealing with bigger issues with your vision. Sometimes these specialists though....not knowing where to send you off to. Prior to our confirmed diagnosis of "skeeter syndrome" for our kiddos, we saw specialist after specialist. (the boys develop cellulitis like reactions to the mosquitoes proteins they inject) and after meeting with the infectious disease specialist, he honestly didn't know where else to send us to. It's scary dealing with what seems so important/ life altering and no one has an answer. Praying you find your answers soon.
Oh and puppies are the best. Two greatest things in life are baby snuggles and puppy breath!
Miki, I don't think I could be found walking the dog at 5am. Tank would be walking me at that hour, LOL.
It's so hard when the dogs have that amount of anxiety. Just breaks my heart for them. I truly love a dogs heart. So pure, so kind and loves abundantly.
Kel, I hope you have a great trip to Vegas. The good news is that you should have a fairly smooth exit from MPS (if you are leaving from the cities). Looking at the maps for turbulance, the patch you'd hit over the Rockies your flight should be well above the area for the pockets. And it should be clear before you start to descend into Vegas area. And for your wife, have you ever heard of flightaware? It's a site that helps you to see the moment the plane takes off to the moment it lands. Just plug in the flight numbers and you can follow it on your computer/phones. https://flightaware.com/ My Sis used to be an air traffic controller and I learned quite a bit from her. And I could sit and watch the planes take off from the airport all day long. Love the big belly planes. And you'll never get me on an aircraft smaller than a 747! Hate small planes. But now I'm rambling...I hope you have great time on your guys weekend. You sure do deserve it. And hope you hit it big out there. =)
Okay, it's time for me to go feed the kiddos. Watch the squirrel cam in our attic....be domestic and stuff.
Happy Wednesday to all.
Bobbi I hear you on the hubby and alarm. Mine does the same occasionally and it makes me want to hit him. (Not hard or anyrhing... just enough so he remembers next time!)
Puppymom sorry to hear the latest appointment didn't go well. Irs frustrating when there aren't any answers.
Twin I'm sorry counseling isn't going well and is leaving you so depleted. Maybe put it on hold while you do some work just on you?
Ive been reafong bitnhavent said mich on account of not being able to type to everyone amd ot felt selfish to jist come and vent without saying hi to everyone. I'm checking in from my doctor's office hoping she can do something to help. We've lost 2 more people at work and things have gotten extremely toxic which is not helping the fibro or the mysterious pain in my side's. I am concerned my anxiety is turning into depression. I just want them to figure this pain and crazy weight gain out. I feel like i don't have any try left in me. I'm out of ideas and feel like I'm completely lost in this new fibro life where stress equals pain and fevers and confusion.
I'm sorry to hear that counseling is going so bad for you...I'm sure that it just contributes to your pain. Sending you healing (((hugs))).
Wonderbaby,
Thanks for the info! I will be flying out of MPLS this evening and am happy to hear that it looks like it should be a good flight.
Maynard,
Fibro can be a tough row to hoe, no doubt. What drives me forward though is the belief that some better treatment (cure??) will be found someday. Admittedly, sometimes I think we all just feel like giving up...but we have to keep on keeping on and believe that things can and will get better!
Mtnfibroguy – nice to see you. I hope you too find some way to get sleep. It really does help, when it comes.
Zombie – there was a time when I got very little sleep and it sure made my fibro 100x worse. Not sure what changed, but I can usually get a halfway decent amount now. I do use Tylenol PM way too much though when the natural things like essential oils and melatonin stopped working well enough. I hope you have a purrfect day!
Bobbii, I am happy to hear there is a resting day in your future. I too am ready for warmer weather. The wind is just a howling and it is snowing lightly. The temp is 21 but I am sure the wind chill brings it to about zero. I really need a warmer climate. Take it easy this morning.
Puppy, has the neurologist done an MRI? Maybe the Opthalmologist will recommend one if he feels the issue is with your brain. Sorry you are having so many issues. I hate eye issues. Good luck with the puppy. We had to put our JRT down at the end of January and I thought our black lab (12) would be lost without her as she was there from his first day with us. Come to find out he loves being the only dog. When we had a 3rd rescue dog, Jake (the lab) started having seizures. After that dog died, he had one more and never another and it has been 3 years. For the first time ever he started playing fetch. It is really weird to watch. Anyways, I hope you have a good day.
Miki, I hope you have a good day and your mom finally listens. I hope your pain lessens and you can get some dream free sleep soon.
Kel, I wish I could go with you. I love Vegas. I get jealous when Tom goes away. I know it is usually for Reserves or something like that, not necessarily fun. But I always joke that Reserves is saving our country 12 ounces at a time. I get jealous that I can’t get away to do that. I could, but I would have to pay for it and that isn’t good either. Have a blast and win millions!!
I was praying counseling would have been better last night Twin. It makes me sad that it exhausts you so much. I hope you get some answers with your bloodwork. Try not to do more than you need to today.
Wonder, I am happy you have another day in paradise. I like that you are the crazy cat lady. I hope you have a good day today.
Maynard, I am so sorry work continues to be a horrible struggle. I sure hope your doctor can figure something out. Leo has been having fevers too and her FIL thinks it is a parasite of some sort. She posted on it last week. You may want to PM her about it. Good luck and take care.
My sleep stunk last night too. Tylenol PM just isn’t working like it used to. The wind was howling all night too. I had some vertigo in the early evening, so I just went to bed. I am not sure what is up with that. Not much happening today, just normal work stuff. However, when I got to work I really wanted to go home and go back to bed. I hate the cold.
Have a decent day all.
