In the last few months I've been getting hives randomly on my hands and feet, usually only when I'm really worn out and exhausted. But they are miserably itchy and aggravating. My doc said it could also be a symptom of the fibro, but I've never heard of this before. Does anyone else have hives or itching?

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. I know this sounds weird, but I learned it from the ER, when I had really bad hives. Take Pepcid, it helps the hives go down better than any Benadryl.
If you have not done so already, you might want to consult with a dermatologist to be sure nothing else is going on. Take care.
Best to have it checked out just in case - and maybe a doc can give you a cream or recommend something OTC to help with the itching.
Take care.
I don't get the hives (so far!) but one thing that really helps me is cortizone cream. You can buy it over the counter. You just have to give it a few seconds & then I usually get good relief.
Also, think about anything new: foods, laundry detergents, drugs... I think itching just might be one of the worst possible torments.
I hope you find the cause & feel better soon!!
taking out gluten has alleviated some of the itchiness and irritable bowels (which i feel are similar reactions, just displayed on different surfaces of the body) that for me are prone to react to stressors. but it never really took it away completely.
i tried vitamin e supplements at one point, but they actually made it worse.
For a while, I had chronic hives with angioedema (swelling of my lips and eyes). MISERABLE!
I did my own research, and concluded that (for one thing) I have an allergy to PPG (polypropylene glycol). Of course it's in everything.
Zyrtec was originally developed (I guess that's redundant) as a treatment for hives, so surely that would do the trick, yes? No. Guess what is (or at least was) in it?? Yep--PPG.
I've had the itchiness even without anything showing on the surface of my skin. TERRIBLE itchiness. In fact, my doctor just referred me to U of M (Michigan) because he's out of ideas. Prednisone bursts did the trick, of course, but how many times can a person go through that??
Here's the thing: Itchiness (and just about everything else under the sun) can be a result of sleep apnea if it's severe enough. A couple of months ago, I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea, and will FINALLY go in for CPAP titration later this month. I am SO eager to see what effect it has on the many, many symptoms and diagnoses with which this ol' body is riddled!

Good point but that does not apply to everyone and a lot of us get the itching from the over active nerves from Fibromyalgia.
Thanks! :)
Good luck finding your wedding rings. Saying a prayer.
