My husband and I have been married 15 years. His parents never call. I say never .... I mean, his Dad might call once a year. His Mom might (or more likely, might not) call if someone they both knew died. That's the only way I can imagine it happening. It has been that way the whole time we've been married. That in itself is weird enough ...but the really weird thing is that he has always denied that there's nothing wrong, and that I'm not the reason for her behavior. (I asked). Well, he's in denial. I wasn't born yesterday. Also, his sister is the same way -worse actually. She wouldn't walk across the street if one of us died. Of course my husband would tell me I was wrong. Often I don't think about this, and am not that bothered by it anymore. Sometimes I am stronger than I am at other times. I stared thinking about this again because my husband invited his Dad to come next Summer. He is in the Military, and is due to be promoted. He expressed an interest in coming, but said that his two oldest granddaughters (Sister's kids) are graduating from college and high school 3 wks. before that. So in other words, he (and maybe his wife) would have to make 2 trips ...and they live far away. I used to think maybe my F.I.L. & wife cared . . .but now they never call either. Tonight I told my husband he should tell his Dad not to bother. I told him why I felt that way too. I feel a bit bad now for being so negative. Really though, his sister is the absolute favorite of both parents ....so much so that it makes me want to throw up. They idolize their son and law too. He is like a son to them. I guess I'm nothing to them. God knows I have tried, especially with my F.I.L. Has anyone reading this ever heard of a family where the husband's (or the wife's) relatives just never called? My family is dysfunctional enough in some ways. I feel bad for my teenage son and daughter ....and my daughter is disabled. We could use some love, but I feel like no one on their Dad's side cares.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

Correction:
Near the beginning, it should say that "he has always denied that there's anything wrong".
That's okay. When my kids were little, I hurt for them, but no longer. It's quite simply their loss.
I will say that when a family has both sons and daughters...that the parents are often much closer to the daughter. The mom-daughter bond can be pretty strong, and there's no way to compete with that. It's more than just attitude. It's also shared memories, dreams, plans of what they would one day do together.
It sounds like your husband might be the family scapegoat and that is why he is so rigorously avoided and neglected. However this is not your problem to solve. Your husband is wise to just ignore it all and I think you should be satisfied that if he wanted this problem addressed he would do so.
