I hate to say it but he should avoid this completely. Despite any age restrictions they may have these sites are loaded with cops plying all different kinds of scenarios looking for "child predators". I'm not saying this against your son at all, it's just that for whatever reason law enforcement seems convinced adult dating sites are loaded with child predators. The odds of your son coming across a cop are extremely high.

Trust me, these dating sites, chat rooms, and even some social media sites are nothing but an accident waiting to happen for any registrant---let alone for one on paper.

I am off paper, but I stay away from these places like the plague.

Aladdin, is correct about the cops. These places are literally crawling with law enforcement people just itching to catch someone doing the least little thing they might consider wrong and it would even be a bigger catch for them to nab a sex offender.

I know your son is decent and his motives are pure, but the chances of someone falsely accusing him or causing a red flag to be raised is just too great.

I agree on all counts. That he will meet someone and to not be on the internet. Altho he wants access to the internet for things like music tabs, etc. He says he's not worried if they monitor his computer because he doesn't look for that stuff and won't be downloading anything.. but I'm hesitant about it all.
I use a computer for work but I'm going to get an Ipad and use that instead of having internet at the house like I do now. I don't want any problems.

I can't remember why he's in, if it was an internet crime, it's highly likely he won't even be able to have internet access for awhile when he gets out. And if he is given internet access, it would likely be for work or school purposes only. I know here in the state I live, limited to no internet access is a standard restriction for a sex offender first getting out of prison.

I'd advise him to get his life in order before thinking about dating.
