I see that our biggest supporters are college professors and researchers that provide convincing evidence that we do not all reoffend at a high level like society, the media, and politicians believe. As you have pointed out you don't trust liberal professors, and I think a lot of conservative people feel the same way. Which is why I place more hope on our message ringing the loudest in the ears of more liberal politicians.
But no, I wouldn't call you a tea bagger or a neocon, but badass, maybe? Anyone who can beat up seniors when they are freshman in high school, definite bad ass material right there.
Getting personal I see, well, to clarify it to those who didn't read the post you a referencing, It was A senior who was bullying me. Badass? No, but I was on the JV wrestling team so I could hold my own.
The liberal way, when someone won't bow to their way of thinking, they resort to personal attacks. It's pathetic really, but if it's all you got, then it's all you got.
Here is how the conversation has gone:
Independent: A liberal getting to the supreme court is the only way we will get freedom from these draconian sex offender laws. Has anyone ever heard of a compassionate conservative? They do not exist, but many liberals have been called bleeding heart liberals. You don't have to go very far, in any sex offender article where someone defends the truth coming out like sex offenders do not recidivate at the high level everyone assumes they do, they get called a bleeding heart liberal.
Coastie: Libtards are just as bad as conservatives look at what they have done, here is seven examples of how bad Libtards are. Both sides are equally bad for us.
Independent: I agree that both sides are currently bad for us. I concede that point, and I 100% agree both parties have used the "get tough on crime" bills to get and stay elected.
However, here is why I think liberals present a better opportunity to grant us our freedoms back, they will actually listen to our biggest supporters. And who are our biggest supporters? College professors and researchers in criminology and social sciences who are conducting research that shows we are not the monsters society believes us to be.
Coastie: (let me quote you so it won't be out of context) "As Independent pointed out, most college professors are liberals and our kids have become idiots with no idea how the real world works because those phd's have NEVER lived in the real world."
Liberals haven't been nice to sex offenders in the past 40 years they will not be nice to sex offenders ever.
Independent: You are proving my point, that you as a conservative will not even listen to a liberal professor just because he/she is a liberal. If you as a sex offender have this much disdain for people who are literally trying to free you with their research, what hope do we have of any conservative not in trouble for a sex crime will ever listen to the research???
Coastie: I will not respond to your point because both sides are equally bad and I have already proven that, but I will bring up you could be Val and you are personally attack me which is the liberal way.
-------
And the funny thing is, I am not even a liberal! Go read my posts, I am probably one of the more conservative persons on here when it comes to several of the issues we talk about, that's why I find myself at odds with some people some of the time. I just think that the landscape of the SCOTUS is very volatile right now and a democrat putting a more liberal minded jurist on the bench would represent our best chance of freedom. I am not resorting to personal attacks, I would go off a lot more on you personally if I was lol. I was just being snide because I just cannot help myself sometimes. Just poking a little fun, sorry.
And I find it hilarious that you think I could possibly be Valerie and a the same time call me liberal. What is that about? Val is as crazy as they come, but she is definitely not liberal.
I have many liberal ideas but I do not vote party line - in my opinion anyone who does is not really exercising their privilege to make their voices heard. I have voted every election since I turned 18 (a few years back lol) but I have changed my strategy. I have already written a form letter asking a particular candidate (from local to federal) what is their stand on the current approach to RSO laws. I was very careful to word the letter so that they will not be able to ascertain my political stance on the the subject because I want some honest answers. I have said in the letter that if I do not get a answer or I receive some namby pamby answer I will leave that section on my ballot blank. In addition, if I have to I will leave my whole ballot blank and I will make a note at the bottom that I am withholding my vote(s) this time. Right now it is the only political issue that matters to me.
FYI, I am not a Repub and have no use for the party, ironically I'm registered independent and have, admittedly, rarely, voted Dem....I did for the last Governor, he is a retired General ad quite conservative for a Dem or Repub.
When you can come up with something new and factual feel free to post them, but this is getting pretty tedious and I've been out of JR High School a looooong time ago
Tschuss....
You then go on to prove my point, with your buffoonery by degrading teachers and professors. The point is that conservatives will not listen to college professors because they think they are too liberal. Everyone here on this board will cite well known research that shows how sex offenders DO NOT reoffend at a high rate. According to your own argument you believe that most of these people stating that we do not reoffend at a high level to be liberals.
You can keep on saying that both parties are not our friends and that is true right now. But your point is short sighted and isn't looking into the future. I'm not saying it will happen, but IF we will ever have a potential ally of one of the two parties, I would go with the party who would be more willing to listen to research and the people who research it. I think Coastie by has own buffoonery has made that very clear which party that would be.
They aren't punishing him for his THOUGHTS - If he kept it at just thoughts , there'd be no issue here.
By writing it down - it gave him something to sit back, read & draw mental images up to release himself over . Right? Like when reading an erotic book/story.
Except in this case he is drawing up sexual images in his mind of children he knows . And if he had no intentions like that - why keep the story around after he wrote it ?
It's basically child erotica
And the danger was in the fact he has specific children in his mind so strongly he was fantasizing about them to the point he felt he needed to risk writing it out & keeping the story around.
A church going man with a family has got to be feeling something strong to take a risk like that - having something like that inside his house at is a HUGE risk if his wife/child found it ( like she did and it ruined his life)
If it were my kids faces & bodies he had In his mind while doing so - I'd feel they were violated EVERY time he read his words and found pleasure In it all. It makes me nauseous to even think of someone writing a sexual fantasy about my kids and then sitting back and reading it again and again - drawing up images of their innocent selves in that way and finding sexual release over it. I see red even thinking of it.
THIS guy seemed to be on the verge of maybe acting on those thoughts . First he just noticed the girls and fantasized for who knows how long until that wasn't good enough for him anymore and then he had to write a story to go off of for awhile. What happens when that wasn't good enough anymore either ? Or when a situation presents itself for him to be alone ( in church families this is just simply not an unlikely thing to happen ) and he's stressed out or Something and he just..... loses it ?
Lots of room for maybe and what if's there but like I said - just playing the devils advocate here because rather I agree or disagree with the point of view on topic - I can't stand to see a point of view bashed like this one is being - without anyone pointing out the other angles of it as well lol It's Just how I am :-)
Yes, you are playing Devil's Advocated-----to the extreme. I hope you don't really believe what you just wrote. I hope you were just relating what some people with extreme views might think.
Writing down his thoughts are still just his thoughts. He has shown no propensity to carry out any of those thoughts.
By your reasoning, anyone who looks at Playboy magazines or watches a porn movie should be arrested for rape or sexual assault.
This is one of the big problems in this country and the very reason we have to deal with the sex offender registry-----we are punishing people NOT for what they are doing, but for what we THINK they MIGHT do at some point.
You wrote, " By writing it down - it gave him something to sit back, read & draw mental images up to release himself over."
People don't need to write things down in word to fantasize in their own mind. The writing it down does not necessarily make him more dangerous than if he just sat around and thought about harming those little girls without writing it down.
Many men will not admit it, but when they see a neighbor or any female they know who is good looking, young, and with a nice figure, the thought of sex comes across their minds. Should we arrest the neighbor for that? What if he writes his thoughts down? What if he fantasizes having sex with her? Throw him in jail?
If you plan to jail every man who has had sexual thoughts about a specific woman before, you had better convert entire cities into prisons as there would be many, many men in jail.
You said, "And if he had no intentions like that - why keep the story around after he wrote it ?"
So the fact that he kept the story around means that he did indeed have every intention to carry out some sort of attack on the girls in the story? Scary thinking.
You said, "It makes me nauseous to even think of someone writing a sexual fantasy about my kids and then sitting back and reading it again and again - drawing up images of their innocent selves in that way and finding sexual release over it."
What makes me nauseous is that we have gone down the slippery slope so far that we have begun to punish people for their thoughts and for things they have NOT done, but MIGHT someday---might----at some point in the future. Where does this kind of thinking stop? Or does it?
You said, " THIS guy seemed to be on the verge of maybe acting on those thoughts."
Really? On the verge? I think it is a leap to say just because someone is thinking or writing his thoughts down that he is on the verge of sexually assaulting a young child.
I know you were playing Devil's Advocate, but I just hate to see people express ideas of punishing people for their thoughts.
