The AWA was passed in both Houses by unanimous vote.. BTW, both the Senate and the House of Reps. were controlled by the Democrats. Speaker "Plastic Face" Pelosi and Majority Leader "Scary Harry" Reid in charge.
Be careful of what you wish for.
Let's get political for one second here:
Ok who remembers when George W. Bush was trying to make a buzzword out of "compassionate conservative" and that he was one? I haven't heard this term much after the election year.
And who has heard the term "bleeding heart liberal"? This term is used a lot more to describe liberals and their policies of wanting to give others a second chance and help the people that are not well off.
One of these terms is an actual term that means something and one is gobbledygook. Now granted both sides are not big supporters of our movement at this present time, BUT if you had guess which one would ever be more likely to help us out would you choose a compassionate conservative or a bleeding heart liberal?
Case closed.
Utah, the reddest of 'Red' states, headquarters to the Mormon church. Some of the most restrictive(and bizarre) alcohol laws in the country, yet, no residency restrictions, Leg. hasn't passed a restriction in 7 yrs. Utah has 10ys, 25yr and lifetime.
Sorry my friend but I'd clearly choose the most conservative state in the country over the most liberal one.
Case reopened.
Are the ones trying to undo what Janice has accomplished, and override court rulings by finding loopholes.
When it comes to elections, I have been looking more at Dems, but prefer libertarians
There is not one person on this forum who agrees with you that republicans are more likely to join our cause over democrats.
I don't recall ever saying that the R's are better than the D's, in fact, I have jumped on both on this issue, but you did prove that liberals are ALWAYS right and they get nasty when they are shown facts that don't jive with their rhetoric... Just like you, I can point to New York, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois etc.., all blue states that are pretty restrictive. Ohio tried to pass a law requiring green license plates for SO' introduced by state Senator Kevin Coughlin)R) in the Senate and, OOPS, Rep Michael DeBose(D) in the house.
Again, back to another post, the Democrats, with the majority controlled Senate and House UNANIMOUSLY passed the AWA, I don't care if you try to spin it using a pinwheel, you can't change the facts.
Outlier? Really, your spin is getting me dizzy. California is the MOST LIBERAL state in the country, followed closely by NY...
We could go round for round on this and all i'll do is make you madder because I will give you facts to rebut your rhetoric so what's the point??/
We can continue this if you want, but I have to go to bed, 4:30 comes early and I'm an unapologetic Capitalist, so good night.
This may be reversed in other states.
I personally used to be a conservative Rep. After going through all of this BS, I see things differently. I consider myself as a moderate. I lean conservative in govt spending, and liberal in social issues. In the last election, I voted for both conservatives and liberals....
My post merely wanted to point out that red vs blue doesn't mean a darn thing when it comes to SO laws.
Just my opinion.

Write to them Rew just as eloquently as you write other articles and let them see our side of things and how wearing a scarlet letter doesn't just affect the perpetrator but the families, especially their children.
I am writing as fast as I can. I write anywhere from one to three letters a day, almost every day, to someone in power, stating our position on issues.
I am also educating people to the uselessness of the registry and all its restrictions whenever I can.
There is not a day that goes by that I don't contact someone in an attempt to make life easier for not only the registrants, but their families as well.
I can only do so much.

You do not recall? Funny it seems whenever someone says that liberals are a better option for the supreme court you just happen to say that even liberals are against SO’s. I posed the question in my first response would you rather trust a compassionate conservative or a bleeding heart liberal. Your response was that California has bad SO laws. So while you have never overtly said that Republican’s are better than dems, you tend to always point out the fact dems are not our friends as well.

I am not trying to spin it any way. The laws are bad all over for RSOs. My point is if you had to bet who could eventually come over to our side and support us who would you pick?
My God, Alito was a federal prosecutor and Roberts was the one who argued against us in the Smith vs Doe case in 2003.
Hell, just read the opinions that have been handed down over the years. It is evident and in black and white.
People can argue all they want, but that is just a fact.
The Conservatives of the Supreme Court have watered down voting laws, the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Fourteenth amendment over the years and the Robert's court is the most conservative in years.
If I had the time, I could find several cases in which the Conservative justices voted to water down the Fourth Amendment----Search and Seizure----the Fifth Amendment----Miranda Warnings----the Sixth Amendment---Confrontation Clause and Right to an Attorney----and the Fourteenth Amendment.
The four justices that continue to interpret the law against sex offenders were all appointed by a conservative Republican president. Keep that in mind.
Conservatives on the Supreme Court-----Alito, Roberts, Thomas, and Scalia----are not our friends and anyone who thinks they are just are not dealing with reality.
