South Carolina and North Carolina are good states. Horry county is excellent, no restrictions on where you live. Very kind ones we have felt with.

Dose anyone know if Montana is a good state to live for SO's. My son and I want to move there but we are not sure if it a wise choice.

I have been out awhile (next year makes 20 years) and I agree with the other comments about avoiding the bible belt states. I moved from Oklahoma to Hawaii after living in the Philippines for 4 years with no trouble at all. Hawaii so requirements are not bad. Once a year I have to go to the police station where I live and update my information for their registration. Other than that I simply fill out a form the state sends me every three months. So far I have not been harrassed or anything. As for living arrangements, I avoid anywhere children might be, parks, schools, playgrounds, etc.. no matter what state u go to avoid these areas at all cost. I would rather have a longer drive time to work rather than neighbors harassing me because I live to close to kids.

I would like to know about Texas as I am from California and no matter what your crime is you are lifetime Registrant !! I would like to get out of this state even though the rules are not all that bad I am seeing Texas might be a good place to go and along with job opportunity.

Idaho isn’t too bad, neither is Michigan. We are looking at Montana as well though. Getting too crowded in Idaho and a bit pricey to live in as well.

I have a conviction from January 2013 and at the time was living in Chicago. No jail time (thank god), but had to do 30 months probation. Six months into it I was able to move back to Phoenix because I have family here. From what I read, Nevada is a decent place to move for a SO/SP primarily because on job applications they only go back 7 years for criminal histories. Now, this is what I've read online. Before I move there I plan on speaking to an atty here and getting their opinion, but it's worth looking into. Hope that helps.

I was reading all the responses on your concerns. First I have to say that rewdiazepam made a comment that Kentucky is a bad place for Sex Offenders and I have to disagree. I am an SO and have been home in Kentucky for over 5 years and have an awesome life. I live in a rural community and have had no issues at all, infact, no one has ever even been to my home to check on me nor has anyone ever approached me or said anything to me in anyway. I have an awesome Church life, friends and I travel as I wish with no restrictions. I simply fill out a registration card every three months and that is it. I have to register for life for a non-violent pornography charge. Keep in mind that your sons charges will play a large role in what he must do when he gets out. I would suggest calling the states you are interested in and talk directly with the State Registry and the local Probation and Parole office of the areas you are interested in. They will tell you what you need to know. I travel all over the US and have found Utah and Nevada very much like Kentucky. Here is the key; "Rural Areas" it is much easier to comply in a country setting. Stay away from the cities and towns. I hope you find a place where you and your son can start again.

Sorry to tell you but all sothern staes and California are down on sexoffenders I live in Oklahoma and just got out. The Bible belt is bad convictions are there bread and butter. It's best to try to write your federal and state representatives and demand a change. We made a difference here on the 85percent laws with just two letters. Stay where your at and keep tweeting it works for Trump lol. Make some arguments to them about the facts that the Jacob wederingly act was base on false results.most of those victums were kidnapped and murdered, not molested! I'd say the laws were feel good laws. They change nothing, second there based on "others who commit sex offences baised on repeat convictions and mental illness. Third someone can get mad at you and your convicted without any physical or verifiable evidence. As long as he's on probation anywhere they'll hound him. Fortunately there starting to back off and the counseling isn't as bad as it was. He'll make it but it's a struggle. The main thing is having a support group, i.e.family. rember inch by inch it's a sinch. Keep your head up. File for SSI get a mental health determination on PTSD and bipolar disorders. They'll help pay or at least reduce some of the fine payments and counseling payments. Hope this helps. And a Good woman won't hurt! Don't date the crazy ones !! Lol God bless!
