Weekly Weigh-In ♦ April 16-22 ♦ Imagine Success!

This morning, one of our weight loss friends posted the challenge of just doing it. The goal is to exercise first thing in the morning. As I reflect on this, we've probably all heard the same and that's to set yourself up for success. Get those exercise clothes ready the night before. Imagine your success ahead of time. Allow yourself to dream of exercising first thing, to feel the enjoyment of that accomplishment. It's great, isn't it? Let's all work on a challenge this week by just setting ourselves up for success.
Is there something you would like to accomplish but just haven't dug into it yet? What are you waiting for? This week, let's get that one goal off the ground by envisioning the gratification of accomplishment. I'm remembering a favorite poem of old ~
It Couldn't Be Done
Somebody said that it couldn't be done, but he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin on his face, If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.
Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that; At least no one ever has done it"'
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat, and with a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing
that couldn't be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one, the dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing That "cannot be done," and you'll do it.

How often are we the source of our own discouragement. It's time to be motivated, to know that we can do whatever it is we've been putting off. We don't have to be the best at whatever it is as we start, we just have to start. So, Happy Easter, if you're celebrating the resurrection today! Is there not a better time for a fresh, new start? Let's get this. If you celebrated Passover, I hope it's been a wonderful week. Enjoy the day and the start to a new week, my friends.
Keep in mind these FOUR S's of weighing yourself:
♦ Same TIME of day (on the)
♦ Same DAY each week (wearing the)
♦ Same CLOTHING (and using the)
♦ Same SCALE to Measure Yourself - Remember, sometimes your scale won't budge but your waistline will.
Last week's successes that were shared with us were;
Yvette: -5 in two weeks, 15 so far
Caroline: -3
Janette: -.8

I'll weigh in on Tuedsay again and will plan on a good result.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...
Caroline, I know that our weight can go up and down depending on all sorts of things like fluid, water intake, salt, you name it. Stress sure doesn't help either. I find that if I'm stressing, remembering to get right out of my head and onto something productive, keeping me occupied, is helpful. I try to remember that all the overthinking and worry does is keep us from enjoy the day we are in. Hope that helps a little bit.
Yvette, I'm so glad you feel my delight and also the anguish about those evil little eggs, lol. It might help if I got them out of my sight. I had a serving of those little varmints today but I started my day off with some exercise so am praying it's going to help with the excess calories. If not, I will be doing more exercise before calling it a night shortly. It seems to help me if I strive to work off any excess in the same day. I am going to tuck them under the lid of my electric fryer so they can't tempt me continually.
We can finish this week with success, whether we maintain or lose, just staying on track is a great accomplishment. I still want to lose some though so I'll be ramping it up.
I am really hungry but feel the rolls of fat around my stomach. I feel tired and teary. They say you shouldn't eat when you are emotional. So I don't know quite what to do.
I dieted alongside a workmate who didn't have a scale. He counted belt notches and pant sizes while I used the scale. Either way, we each had exciting news to share no matter how we measured.
Not to worry about aiming high. That's always a good thing in my book. What I've studied is that it's important to have big dreams and goals; we just have to have smaller goals, the same way we have steps on a stair case. We don't walk from the base of the stairwell and skip the steps, we have to work our way to each step. Planning is key. I think we all have the tendency to want to pass go and collect 200 but we have to make ourselves a plan to ensure success. I like to have a weekly goal and a reward of some sort. I also use tools like "myfitnesspal" to keep track of nutrition and calories, and water.
Let us know what sort of things you need help with. When we speak of wanting things to go faster, it reminds that it's okay to give ourselves the time to learn, to grow, and to make our goals, check them off, reward ourselves, and enjoy the process. We are making positive changes that will help establish healthier habits that will serve us well.♥
Have had my hair cut short now that I have lost most of my double chin.
Sully - welcome to the group!! So glad you're here. Hopefully, you'll feel at home here and be able to set some practical, achievable goals.☺
