Hey everyone. I just joined dailystrength, so this is my first support group. I don't really know how it works yet, but I guess I'll figure it out eventually. I've been heavy my whole life. I don't think I've ever been a "healthy" weight. I am 5'2", and at my heaviest I weighed 172 pounds. When I started my weight loss journey at the beginning of the summer I was 170 pounds, and this past Friday I weighed in at 149.4 pounds. It was really easy to lose weight over the summer because I was home, where my dad and stepmom also try to eat healthy and don't buy junk food. I had enough time to go the gym daily, and I was losing weight pretty easily. But now I'm back at college and it's been so much harder. I've lost weight, but not as quickly as I had been at the beginning. Lately I've been binging like crazy. Today I started off well, but then I started to do some meal prep for the upcoming week and my roommates all left the apartment, so I started to binge. I haven't been eating well all weekend and I'm so disapointed in myself. I JUST made it the 140s...I thought i would feel more motivated to stay in the 140s, but I've been eating crap and now I'm probably back in the 150s. My goal is to get to the 120s by New Years, which really isn't that much weight (20 lbs). But if I keep binging, I don't think I will be able to lose the weight :/

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

If you slip, you've made an error just for that time frame. Don't beat up on yourself, just get back to it.
I like what Dr. Christiane Northrup suggests - instead of trying to muscle through with will power, when you have a craving, take just one or two bites. That what tastes best anyway! And you're less likely to binge because you can have another bite or two the next day. Today, I was dying for some chips, so I was just mindful about it. I turned off the tv and just focused on what I was eating, what it tasted like and I totally enjoyed it. I had 4 chips and didn't need any more.
Best of luck to you! But seriously, don't beat up on yourself. You're doing your best and it sounds like you've done amazing so far. You just needed a little break and now you can get back to it. If you dread getting back to it, maybe you just need a couple revisions to make it more do-able.
