Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

So I've posted before about really being stressed trying to find a job. Money has been a real issue. I left my fulltime career and went back to college after 20 years. My career as a teacher was destroying my mental health. I got a graduate degree in tech last year and for the past two months or so was out of work.
I did get a job, I finally found my first job-it is part time and contractual but with a top-tier company. There is quite a learning curve. In the transition to my new life, so many things have fallen away, it's been an isolating time. I had pretty bad depression this summer but am feeling much better now that I'm back at work, even if it's part time. The pay rate is so much better than teaching that I'm making the same amount in half the hours...
I'm still short of money though as I need a full time job. This is a struggle but I'm getting there. In the meanwhile the car that I just bought broke down, the dryer has stopped working again and I have to hang up all my clothes outside...the plug/wire to the wall was emitting a burning smell which is terrifying and can cause a house fire, so I turned that breaker off from outside and am going to be hanging my clothes outside for however long...
The oven is also broken too. Sometimes the baking coil works, sometimes it doesn't, and I'm trying to save money by cooking my own food. Things are so tight, I don't have money to get any of this repaired. The stress is high. But, I'm getting there. I'm putting all my effort into my new career. A lot of people are unable to find jobs so I have no complaints. It's short term and contract but that's ok. It could lead to something.
I try to have faith in God, it helps. I decided to let go of some things that were plaguing me, like my old friend group collapsing. There were new people that I was afraid to reach out to. When I left it to God and detached, they reached out to me to invite me to get together, so we have plans in a few weeks. Now that my faith is strengthened, I realize when I let go of the fear, God steps in to help. I just need to do this with my money situation too. I realize that is not everyone's belief, and it was not always mine, but it has helped me. It's just hard in the interim.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I think taking the part time job as a start in the industry is very wise. Being part time will allow you to do job interviews if you find another job offering. And it will get something current on your resume.
My son is unemployed also. His previous job negatively affected his mental health, he had a surgery, and has been very depressed. He has not had much luck and I meant to ask him how job hunting was going yesterday. He has savings but still.... like you said, many are out of work.
And I am also sorry about the oven, dryer, and the car. Sheesh, you have had a big bad year. I am glad you have something scheduled with your friends. At this point, you have gained so much knowledge and understanding.
I got up this morning, waiting on my cleaning helper who cancelled as being sick, and looked under my kitchen sink. We had plastic put down on the floor of the cabinet to protect it. Well there is black slime everywhere under the plastic. Does not smell like black mold.
I don't need another problem! Which you can likely relate to.
Keep going forward, keep using self-compassion. It has been a hard year for many people I am noticing, including myself.
I hope that it leads to something permanent if you like the company
A lot of second hand shops have good buys
My landlord buddy bought a convection oven for 20 bucks about 3 years ago and it's still going strong
I'm sorry for the other problems that you've run into
There are many places that sell second hand though and thefe are some good buys
It's nice that you'll be getting together with some new friend's soon
That's lovely...Big hug...xo
