Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I am new to this particular group but not new to depression. I have had a huge worsening of my depression since covid started. I've gained weight, have zero motivation to do anything, lost interest in things I love. I've talked with my therapist and my doctor but I just feel stuck.
Im so afraid of catching the virus (I have severe OCD) and my constant level of concern over it just sucks the joy out of everything. What is everyone here doing to manage? I just feel so alone with this even though I know so many others are suffering as well.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. What suggestions has your doctor or therapist said to you?
Read up about how to protect yourself when you are out. Masks for sure, gloves maybe. And please do get out, at least for a walk around your block, as exercise daily is not only proven to lift depression and anxiety, but you get the added benefit of losing a few pounds as well :)
We'll get through this! I am hopeful they will have a vaccine by year's end. Don't let this virus beat you!! I am just living as best I can, while being cautious of course. I now go out quite a bit during the day to get food, meds, etc. And I live in a hot spot city and I am high risk.
While your waiting, text, email and zoom friends and family. Do activities at home that you enjoy. Schedule daily activities to keep yourself distracted. Start something new and challenging, read a new book, cook new foods, etc. you are not alone. Come back to DS often and read posts and tips. Best wishes.
