Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm 31 years old and I'm cutting my wrist. What is wrong with me? As I sit here typing this I'm watching the blood roll down. I was doing fine gave my mom all the knives and the one I cut with mainly and now I went behind her back and got me a knife. And now I'm in my truck in a dark parking lot cutting. I have so much stuff going on in my life and I'm just in a dark hole and can't find my way out of it. I'm going to ask my councilor if there is something for me to take and see if it can help. I just can't take it no more.

As for meds to help with self-harm, there aren't many. Lithium can help with urges, but doesn't work on everyone. The way to deal with Self-harm is learning healthy coping skills to replace the bad ones, doing DBT Therapy and things of that nature. It's not easy because you have to retrain your brain on how it deals with stress and anxiety, but it's worth it to stop the self-harm.
