Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I just got rejected from the major I applied to 5 weeks ago. It was already my plan B. I've already been rejected from the graphic design program twice. I don't know what to do. I feel so disappointed in myself, like I'll never be good enough. I don't know what to do. I feel so hopeless and sad. I feel like every time I get over a barrier, there's another one waiting for me. I just want to make my parents proud. They are first generation immigrants and college students and I feel like I'm trying my best to get into a program and to graduate college, but I just can't seem to do it. I don't know what I can do.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

Is there a school counselor, they used to call them guidance counselors, that you can talk to, because they could probably point you in the right direction.
Maybe it was rejected because their classes were already filled up. They sound like classes that would be popular. I went through the same thing, when I first tried to get into my first psychology class... it was filled up in one hour. I never had a chance. So, I took sociology instead for that semester.
I wouldn't take it personally. Could just be they were already filled up and met their quota for now.
It's hard, but you have to keep trying. Hopefully the school counselor can help figure out how to get in these classes.
"There was a boy about 8 years old that lived in a port city in Spain. He lived with his uncle in church living quarters. They worked for the church which sheltered them and gave them food. The boy would help by ringing the bells every morning and evening and on special events. The priest of the church was concerned for the boy and his education so he sent him to school. After 4 years of schooling the boy was still unable to write. Not even an "O" for as round and easy it may be he was unable to grasp the idea of writing. One day the priest came to him and his uncle and told them that unfortunately he was not going to keep a person around who did not know how to read or write. The priest mentioned that if the boy did not pass his next reading and writing exam he would have to leave the church.
The boy went to school, tried his hardest at the exam and failed. Without saying a word he packed his bags and walked towards the docks. He took a boat and left. Many years passed and a great armada of warships came to the port. Many people came to the port to see the commotion. There seemed to be a celebration going on. It seemed that a man from that city had become a great commander in the Spanish Armada. There was a ceremony and in the ceremony many people recognized the boy that once lived in the church with his uncle was the person being celebrated. The Mayor of the city made a speech and said, "this man has become a great commander, he is smart and strategic, he is a grand man. But let me tell you a lesson, that if this man had learned to read and write he would now be the Ruler of his own nation. Bells rang. The man who was once the boy then interrupted the mayor while pointing at the bell tower and said, "Sir, I apologize for interrupting, but if I had learned to read and write in my childhood I would now be ringing those very bells and not standing here before you all being celebrated."
Sometimes my friend the things we see as failures will lead us to our greatest achievements. Everything in your life has a purpose. This is not the end all be all. Things will be as they are meant to be.
