trap was empty without being sprung again today. Now, I don't know for sure it was her (I only had kibble in it) but I'm pretty sure it was her yesterday, I am hoping hard that she is outsmarting me. I fiddled with the trap to make it more sensitive (she is really lightweight). I know the neighbors cats will go in and are heavy enough to set it off. *fingers crossed* come home baby!

Sheena has been spotted a few houses down, in a house that is backed up to my backyard. We saw her about 30 mins ago. She ran, and is hiding under the house. But from neighbors reports she has been going in and out of there since around 7:30, when she again went into the trap w/o triggering it to eat. we're pretty sure thats where she's been hiding. I also discovered (i think) that the trap isn't triggering when she goes in there is because its not on solid ground. I moved it a foot or so in is in the driveway. rebaited with kibble, treats, and tuna (coz if she leaves it I know its her ) I know since she just ate she may not come out for a while, but it makes me feel a lot better to have seen her, and get an idea of where she is hiding. I'm really hoping we catch her tonight, it hurts to hope so hard. Also, thanks everyone for letting me vent and continuing to answer me on here. This has been super hard on me, and it's nice to have a virtual shoulder to lean on

so far nothing :( 5 cats in the last day, none of them my kitty. Super pissed about the last one because my boyfriend and I were at a family thing, my mom and dad called babbling about how they got her. I rush home (30 min drive) only to see that the cat they have isn't Sheena. It doesn't even look like her. My cat is short haired, this cat was long haired. Seriously?! I broke down. I yelled, screamed, cried, and had a panic attack. I couldn't stop shaking. Getting that excited, that happy, over nothing. Its killing me. Plus side, we did spot her twice again today, so we know she's okay and still hanging around, just maybe not hungry/brave enough to come out from under the house yet.

Don't worry too much and try not to focus on the negativity of some of the people on this board (and yes I am talking about you "animal46"). I know it's hard for you not to panic but it sounds encouraging that you have spotted her in your neighbourhood...so you know she hasn't stayed very far from home. Animals know where their food is so maybe when she gets hungry enough she'll come home. I'm not even a "cat person" but I love my dog (he's a very small dog that was abused in his former home) whenever he is out of my sight. He doesn't go very far usually but we live on the corner of a very busy intersection and I get worried that he might try to run across the street and get hit by a car. He is also an indoor dog and only gets let out to use the bathroom in our backyard...so I know how you must feel!

Keep your spirits up...she will come home...you have to believe that. In the meantime try to take care of yourself as best you can and try to take rest breaks if you can't sleep at night. Take care and remember to update us when she does come home!!

I've been checking in daily in the hopes your kitty comes home. My cat loves Temptations and just had to hear the package open and he just comes running. Just like the ads. Yours is a young one. I'm so glad you've been spotting it around. Keep us informed.

So sorry to hear about your kitty! It amazes me that people who have cats around don't stop to think that they may try to escape occasionally even if they're indoor cats! (It must be a call of the wild thing!) I know with my kitty if she ever got out it would be a nightmare to get her back in because she's so easily spooked! I even tried taking her out on a leash when she was a kitten but she was so terrified that I had to bring her in almost right away! Sounds like your kitty is close so hopefully you can get a hold of her soon! Try to hang in there!

Good news that she is still around your house. That sounds like she is doing okay and knows where her home is. How did the havaheart trap work when you reset it? I've been thinking of you and your kitty and hoping that she will come back in the house soon. As a cat lover I feel your frustration but don't lose hope and try not to be so hard your parents, I'm sure they feel terrible about the situation. I feel in my heart it will turn out well and your kitty will be home soon!

Sorry about the false alarm, perhaps ask your super to call you and simply say "Looks like you got somebody else's cat again" rather than "I think it is yours".

But it is good that you have seen her again. I would venture to say that if you have seen her 2 times she has seen you 200 times! She just needs the right circumstances to come back to you.

Sorry that your kitty cat is missing...I have two indoor cats an d I don't know what I would do in your situation...

Tax I am.so sorry to hear about your missing cat. A few years our cat got out. She was hiding in the crab apple tree in the backyard. Neighbors heard about the cat and tried to help get her down. Well they scared her and she ran out of the yard. We found her later that.night hiding on a neighbor's backyard.

I bet your kitty is in the area, scared. Put out some food and a blanket she slept on and something that has your scent too. I'm sure she'll be back

OldRolly You sound like you know very little about the situation if you think my parents will ever be seen by anyone as "do gooders" other than you. My father intentionally left the door open to let the cat out in order to upset me, then straight out told me he doesn't care if she didn't come back. In an earlier thread I stated about my parents and their treatment of me, this is just another event in a long line of things they have done. But I digress:

I want to thank everyone again for their continued support of me these past few days. My animals help with my depression and anxiety immensely and worrying about her was horrible. The worry was the worst, our area is so unfriendly to outdoor cats, from loose dogs, aggressive ferals, to kids who catch and torture cats for fun. (we have one or two cats running around with 1/2 tail because of this) I am pleased to report that this afternoon at around 4:30, my boyfriend checked the trap while I was at work to find her inside. Sheena is home and we couldn't be happier. She lost a lot of weight and seems so tired, I'm sure her ordeal was exhausting. She was really happy I think to see me when I got home, she even rolled over and started purring - and she's not a very purry cat! I know for myself this will be the best sleep I've had in days-I'll be able to sleep more than 2 hours! Thanks again everyone! I'll let you all know how she's settling back in tomorrow.
