Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Why cant I be like my ex and move on quickly, forget about all the promises I made and the few happy moments? Why cant I shut off my emotions and move on to another person.....almost like a breakup never happened? Why cant I be like my other friends who dont let such trivial things bother them? Why cant I just shut out my depression and stay ignorantly positive?
It's not fair. I want to be at peace, I want to be able to move on and have no emotional attatchements to the last person. Why do I have to be like this? Why cant I be a robot and program my brain and heart to see how stupid it is to hold onto all of these feelings? I hate this so much. Somedays it feels like everyone around me knows how to just move on from heartache and depression so much faster than me. I feel like I'm always left behind, holding onto memories both good and bad. Alwasy depressed or obsessing over how I failed antoher relatinoship.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Some women are more emotional than others as well. Women are emotional beings. They want to know the whys and wherefores of things whereas a man, in many cases, will just go on and try to hide his true feelings by acting macho. It makes it easier for him to deal with a breakup.
You stated that you are obsessing over how you "failed another relationship". How do you know it was you who failed? There are 2 sides to every story in life. In some relationships, there is a communication breakdown. In some, emotional detachments follow this breakdown. In other cases, there may be infidelity of some sort which can contain a sexual affair, an emotional affair or some other outside temptation, fantasy or whatever.
"It's not fair" is a true statement. In many cases, life is not fair. Life at times is hard to deal with.
I don't know your age but, as you get older, you will better understand some of the things I have mentioned. In any relationship, there is a breakdown somewhere along the line. Breakups usually do not happen overnight. Hang in there and I am here if you need to converse further with me.
My wife divorced me about 4 years ago, after a 24 year marriage and I told her, I just wanted her to be happy! If her new guy could make her happier then me then I was happy for her! I never lead her on that my insides were tearing me apart at the time. Long story short, about six months after the divorce, she wanted me back! Apparently, sex and life on the other side of the fence, wasn't what she thought it was. I had found happiness being single and getting to know myself better so I respectfully declined. Last I knew, she is still with him but not sure how happy they are.
So what I am saying is, Never shut the door on the future, Never shut the door on the unknown because you will probably like what you see when you open it and regret not doing so sooner!
God Bless
