Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I've had anxiety for many years, but never believed I was truly depressed until more recently (like the past couple years), but it seems to be getting worse.
I feel so low right now, hence me seeking out support or advice. I do not know what's wrong with me, but I feel so empty inside. I do not know who I am and I feel like I have no sense of self. I base my self-worth entirely on what others think of me, and I become so afraid that other people will not like me. Throughout the years, I have developed a "false self", trying to act perfect and never letting anybody see my true self. I fear that if I am myself around people, they will not like me.
I feel horribly sad and alone. I am a college student and have 0 friends and am finding it hard to get out of bed in the morning. I cannot focus to study and I just don't feel like it. This creates enormous anxiety because I am so afraid of what people will think of me if I fail. But I cannot bring myself to study.
Like I said, I have anxiety and also terrible OCD. I have these obsessive thoughts that will not go away, and I can't think of anything else. I am starting to believe I will never stop feeling this way. When I think back, I have felt empty, sad, and alone for most of my life. More recently, I have started becoming preoccupied with thoughts of dying. I have no plan or anything, but I've started thinking about ways I could just end all this suffering. I hate that I am thinking this way, but I can't stop.
I am just so tired, physically and mentally. Also, I should mention that my sleep is terrible. I wake up early (usually around 4 or 4:30). Sometimes it's even earlier, like 3:30, or sometimes I get lucky and sleep in til 5, but I can never sleep til my alarm. And I feel exhausted, every day, so run down, and life is just continuing on and I cannot keep up. I feel helpless right now.
Thank you to anyone who read my ramblings. I apologize for being so negative, but I really do appreciate it anyone read this. Even if nobody did, it was helpful for me to write this out.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I recently came into some information about a rating that I believe would help you:
When you start to think of suicidal thoughts, there is a 1-10 scale that I never knew existed. This is the breakdown:
1
2
3
4 Think of 3 main Reasons for Staying Alive
5 See a Therapist for talk therapy or Doctor visit for meds to help
6. Go talk to a "Help Me" person that is part of your support team. Is there any family member or former colleague that you feel comfortable being with right now and just talking or hanging out. It can be anyone that makes "YOU" feel good about yourself. Finding these people are worth all the trouble because they genuinely care. You can say anything and they do not jump on you!
7. Call CAD 918-481-4000
8. Call Copes 918-744-4800
9. Go get accessed for impatient hospital
10. Kill yourself.
You said, "More recently, I have started becoming preoccupied with thoughts of dying. I have no plan or anything, but I've started thinking about ways I could just end all this suffering. I hate that I am thinking this way, but I can't stop."
If that was me writing that, I would be rating myself as Level 7 or 8 and make the phone calls and let the professionals make suggestions.
I have been there where you are at and it is a very dangerous place to be. You need expert advice. Please call!
Meanwhile,
You are having very "red" days so you should H.A.L.T this means that you should check these things:
1. Are you hungry? If so, eat something so that you will feel better. Don't bother eating the "correct" food, eat carbs because it makes you happier and calms you.
2. Are you angry? Many times I am angry and do not realize it. For example, you are in college and have zero friends, that makes me angry for you! Your support team does not seem to be there for you (I recently realised that some people I discounted to be part of my support team was because years ago, they let me down or tried to "fix me" when I needed support. I realized that I have grown since then and maybe they have too so I have started to reconnect with these people. Anyway, ask yourself if you are angry? Talk to someone about it.
3. L is for Lonely! I do not have to ask you if you are, you said so.
4. T is for Tired. I do not have to ask you if you are tired because you talk about it.
See how far down the chain you are????
Please call for help!
You are more important than any reason you may have for talking to these wonderful people!
Remember, do not wait on anything to change! You have to make a change and you can know what to do if you make a call!
Your 1 new friend. You can contact me if you want any more info or to just talk - I try to monitor my site at least once a week right now (I cannot do it every day right now).
Call! (Yes, I know these are Oklahoma numbers but they can help you the same as any other numbers. You are important and I believe we can be friends. I know what it is to wear a mask; I know how to have "acquaintances" but am learning to how to have friends.
