Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Today in class a guy in my class who is so kind and has tried many times to be my friend asked me if I wanted to be in his group because I don't talk to anybody in that class and I feel so guilty because when he asked me that I gave him a gross stare and only said sure, I was just very anxious and then the whole class I didn't make any effort to be in his group or speak to him I was just on my phone and looked very distant and disrespectful, and I'm very mad at myself for this, I thought I was progressing with my social anxiety but I'm not, I messed up really bad today, or at least that's what it feels like, I can tell this guy feels like he did something wrong and feels like he did something bad for me to not liek him and it makes me feel worse, I feel very disgusted with myself for what I did today, I can't even speak in class I just freeze up and can't breathe properly

My best friend ruined my day with her immature, bitchy self. If she doesn't get her way, she has a tizzy fit. I told her weeks ago that I couildn't go to yard sales with her on 9/12 because i have a hair appointment. She wasn't happy. I also told her that I don't have any money to go to yard sales. The Friday before Labor Day just before we left, the options given to me basically were either quit of be fired, and if I were to stay on I were to be put on an improvement plan, which is pretty much synonymous with getting fired. I was going to do the improvement plan and just ride it out until I found another job due to money and due to the fact that I did not want to quit without another job....

Also, don't be so quick to read people's minds; it's something none of us can really do, no matter how much it feels like we can. What he is thinking, and what you feel like he is thinking, may be completely different things.
If this step was too big to take, maybe take a look at something that is easier to manage, to give you practice and encouragement. Find something that matches your skill level and work your way up.
In any given social situation, almost all people are usually just thinking about themselves - not about anyone else.
Be patient and kind to yourself. We are all a work in progress. The steps you want to take may be difficult, but that doesn't mean you can't work towards them, bit by bit.
And just listen. Let him talk about whatever he wants to talk about. If there is silence, then ask "What is everyone doing (in the group) today?"
I think he would like that, and appreciate someone asking how he is.
