Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hi friends, hoping for some words of wisdom to help happiness reappear in my life. I'm a devout Protestant but feel so distant from God lately, it's hard for me even to mutter a simple prayer. I'm turning 24 this year but I feel that I've already wasted my life and it's to late, and I'm to old to be or do anything extraordinary. I haven't achieved any of the things I dreamed about as a child and hobbies and hopes I once had seem to have grown stale or disappeared all together... I feel almost like a floating feather....I work at my desk job, come home, take the antidepressants and go to sleep. Morning comes, repeat. I just want so desperately to feel happy again, to not feel like I'm already old and useless. Any advice is profoundly appreciated! Love to all who are also battling the monster of depression.

I got an email from Kohl's that I had a 40% off coupon for today and tomorrow only. It took me about an hour but I placed an order and got some great deals. I have been wanting a new dress. I like dressing up sometimes. My birthday is coming up and I have dinner plans at a nice restaurant. But, honestly, I'm a little out of control again. I went through this in the fall. I bought...

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...

Never too late.
>>feel so distant from God lately,
He is all'round you. Talk to Him.
He MIGHT tell you to confer with a DOCTOR and get effective treatment for depression.
There was a lawyer in my state, one of the most prominent ones heading one of the largest firms who died. My mom came up to his wife and expressed condolence saying I am sorry for your loss. Don't she said, he was a miserable human being, I found out about two girlfriends and because of his free-spending left his family relatively little. His clients and prestige would go and his legacy would likely be the unhappiness of his wife. In contrast, there are many people with regular jobs who spread a kind word, give a smile, do a little more and make our world better.
Moses waited till he was 80 to receive his calling. The Lord Jesus waited till His thirties to go out and spread The Word. He was most likely spreading The Word before that, but it is when He started to gather The Disciples together and lay the foundation of The Church.
Shame pulls us away from Who we love the most. You have nothing to be ashamed of. God loves us warts and all. He can use any as His Hands And Feet too. The waiting is the hardest part, but you are waiting for something great. In the meantime, you can live your life as godly as possible. That can be a wonderful testimony wherever you are. You are in my prayers. I hope this was of any help. God Bless.
Well, I think that what you need to do is to keep trying and fighting to be happy. It is not easy at all, I know. But, we need to go on. So, think of the things that you always wanted to achieve since you were a little kid. I think there are still some you can achieve and it is not too late. Work on achieving them. I know some wishes could not be achieved because of aging, but some wishes are still possible to make true!
Trust what you know. God loves you. He cares for you. He knows what you are going through. He is working all things out for your good. He desires to have a relationship with you and to be your closest companion. I agree with a previous post about Moses and others who got late starts in life.
I was raised in church, baptized at 12, attended regularly. But it wasn't until I was 28 that I got serious about my relationship with God. I began to have a daily time of studying my Bible, praying, etc. There are a lot of good resources available for Bible study. Check out Ligonier ministries or Insight for Living. Also, we grow in groups. Call every church in your area until you find a women's Bible study. Saying a prayer for you. It is not too late.
