can I call in sick

I can't work. I've been crying so hard my eyes are swollen. So swollen. I've never looked so bad. Can I call in sick from a broken heart? Dealing with being dumped and having depression... I just need a day to cry all day please.

I think if you said you was ill would be a more excepted excuse. I understand it's very hard ATM I've been through a breakup and it's horrible, I found being around people easier when My relationship ended when I was alone I felt myself thinking about it more, which made me more upset

Hugs Hun I know it seems like it won't get better but it does Hun just take each day at a time spend time with friends and family and distract yourself x

I do have a migraine from crying and I feel nauseou and I don't want food. That's all true!

Those types of days can be hard we can't think clearly. In a way it's good just to take a day off. You can't think straight in that mind of frame.

I think of you need a day off Hun, then you should. Break ups ain't easy and if your in pain and nausea it's probably best to have a day off

aw I am so sorry. I know crying like that is exhausting. if you feel you need to go ahead call in. Personally I just go because once there it helps me. These days would call in daily too because thats how bad I feel mentally. Be sure when off your taking time for you.

It all depends on your company's sick day policy. Most companies take your word for it that you are sick and can't come in.

But on the flip side, many companies have a requirement that you get a doctor's "return to work note" if you are out for more than X number of days. (It is 3 consecutive days for the companies I know about.)

Thanks guys. I took Tylenol and Aleve but it still is here. I want to sleep but I can't closE my eyes without picturing him with someone else.

TOTALLY! I think mental unhealthy days are totally justified. If you do not think your employer will understand blame a physical illness. Nurse your broken heart but don't wallow in the grief for too long. You have much more love to give and get!

Sure, you can call in sick, if you can do without a day's pay if you're paid hourly or are not concerned about losing that job!

Honey, you just need to find another outlet that brings you pleasure. He moved on. So should you.

    I'm horrified!  I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000.  I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter.  I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change.  Now this!  I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000.  I guess I have to pay...
