Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
AWESOME THREAD!....thanks for starting it, penntucky!
I read all 14 previous replies....and all I have to say this....
GOD...is real...He's not a character in a fairy tale which is why prayer doesn't work like a magick lamp....
GOD/Christ...never did say life on this earth would be easy...kinda reminds me of the song - I Never Promised you a Rose Garden....
As for DEPRESSION....it's not a illness...Yeah...I know I am contradicting my ownself by saying this despite the fact that I've been known to come on this site of profess my sickness repeatedly over and over...because I do feel sick...and I do take medication...and I do feel pain...and I do shake and tremble....and I do have all those other symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolor...even some multiple personality disorder symptoms....so according to the medical field and my doctor and me...Yeah I am SICK....sick as a dog as a matter of fact....but yet....YET....
My logical analytical realistic left-brained self...knows without a doubt that DEPRESSION is NOT an ILLNESS!!!....Its anything but an illness...it disguises itself as an illness ...but it is not an illness.
Depression is a....lifestyle? (hmmm-maybe)....a state of mind? (....possible)...a disease/illness? (-NOPE, not that) ...a form of death? (...hmmm-something to think about...homicide, suicide, depressioncide)...
In closing, cause I have to go to a recovery meeting...I only have two things to say:
1. GOD is real... and...
2. Depression is NOT an illness (neither is alcoholism, addiction, and any of the other A's out there (AA, NA, OA...ect.)
that's all folks....see y'all later!
Well? ....
If you say Depression is NOT and illness, what is it then ? a choice , a life style ? a sin ?
I guess all of those people including myself who are helped by meds are what ? halucinating ?
There are many things in the Bible taht are man's interpetation, why even the Bilbles 'books' are a ccollection on man's view of worldly events. If you want to read about Depression in the Bible , read about Job, who did not recover until after God restored everything he 'allowed' saten to take.
but, i just can't put the genie back into the bottle, after all i read about various religions, and the stuff i've gone through, especially the stuff i've gone through...alone.
maybe, thanks to this thread, i realize it's being alone....with nobody, god, thing, philosophy any help.
I've been physically, emotionally, and sexually abused, a god deffinitely doesn't exist in my world, for that I'm sure of.
Look at all the priests sleeping with little boys and the mafia laundering their money through the Vatican. Is this religion? I really don't think too strongly that there is a god and I would've never said this before either. People say that if you aren't getting healed then you aren't believing enough...what a bunch of crap. Just how old is this god....5?
If someone said they had a goldmine and you can invest in it the first thing most people would ask is, where is it? People should be saying the same about god. Now, if there is a god...holy crap I'm sorry!
i even heard/read that before...of lot of people's hell has been here on earth.
almost like some richard pryor joke about prisoners serving multiple life sentances: you go through hell on earth----and then you get stuck going to hell after you die?!
talk about depressing!
i called a live/die (dont wanna use certain word) hotline and got put on hold, and yeah, a rude girl on other end chewing gum, as though she was a college kid stuck on phone for some college course.
me going around in circles on this site, maybe spending too much time/thoughts here making me worse, but i still prefer here to any phone help.
...One of you asked God is not real because so much suffering goes on in Earth..!
...Another wrote; basically; look at the Catholic Priests who have been abusing boys...This is petty to what they used to do...They used to rip peoples organs out and melt peoples faces in a hot iron mask...
....There is a cure to this misunderstanding...
....It is called an understanding of the TRUE teachings of Christ...Since He was the Spirit God of Creation in the flesh; He cannot lie...
....He fully explains WHY all these horrors occur on Earth...
....1) We are born into the darkness and the lord of this kingdom rules and death is his dominion...
....2) We are literally born with the spirit in us being dead due to Adam and Eve unleashing that "Pandora's Box" of evil into this kingdom...
...3) You must lose your life to save it....
....4) No one is God's child, as we are not even born in God's kingdom....Therefore to get the bus transfer out of here you need to get a free ride by the one who is holding the keys to drive you out...
....5) The flesh produces nothing to God nor can it please God...Why?..The flesh is the tent in where your spirit/soul dwell...This was shown to Israel in the Feast of Tabernacles...Your hand cannot decide to punch someone out committing a battery...And in court you cannot argue that you did not do it but that your hand did...Your spirit makes a decision and you bring this decision forth into this created realm by the use of your body...Body must go due to being sin riddled...The outer husk of corn must be shed...If there is gold inside; God will know...
...................................................
...So all of you rightly say this place is loaded with horror and suffering...And what spirit being would rule over such a place?...
...God's kingdom is in heaven...Then where are we?...
You are out of order with the religious stuff.
I notice you haven't post much else in the depression group.
Other than giving religious sermons
And I am sure the boys abused by priests would not call it petty.
I am guessing you aren't really here to support and help but to stir the pot.
And everything you have posted
'Tis a Matter of Opinion.
Praise the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Is it not merely an opportunity to think?
I thoroughly enjoyed it, so far.
I think wcy has made the debate team in spades.
I personally notice in discussions on this topic, in whatever venue, it's the same doz questions that pose as the core objections to believing specifically in Christ.
And interestingly enough these objections aren't news. They've been the same for ages. There are many learned scholars that have responded with what I deem very acceptable and well supported answers. (At least go study your own objections) there are as people will be quick to point out, other scholars who would stand and refute
The very same conclusions.
The fact of the matter is, some of us simply need no evidence to believe, we find it easy and simple, considering that we haven't the capacity to understand it all. Yet, others if given a personal tour of heaven and a 2 hour consultation with the Creator himself would still shake their head in disbelief. Ie: doubting Thomas
I find that persons on the pro God side gutsy for even bothering to speak up, knowing it's probably going to go over like a lead balloon. It is a very healthy thing to discuss your beliefs, in doing so you learn where the holes in it are. So therefore I welcome my faith to e challenged, no better way to proof it. Also generally speaking, the persons on the anti god side tend to come off as very defensive about it all.
Back to where I started, why get angry? There's a couple quotes: " The less a thing can be proved the angrier we get talking about it."
"All things are possible until they are proved impossible, even the impossible, may only be so, as off now."
Forgive me for not knowing whom to credit. Too lazy to look up.
Having said that, I'd like to say that I, too, have the Rainbow Bridge poem that my vet gave to me when I had to do the ugly deed and end the suffering of one of my cats. The poem is very special to me.
However, the best therapy I have and can offer to help ease some of your pain, and I know it will never really go away because you have memories and attachment to this furbaby that you will not forget, please accept this:
Isaiah 11: 6 - 9
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice's den. THEY SHALL NOT HURT NOR DESTROY IN ALL MY HOLY KINGDOM; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters over the sea.
This passage is extremely comforting to me, not only because it declares plainly that animals (and God loves His animals) are in his holy kingdom (which is not of this world), so I will have my furbabies with me, but that also, there is no hurt there, nor does any destroy there, not any person, not any thing. We do not live in a Holy Kingdom here on Earth; the churches have fallen to corruption, the people and all creation have fallen to corruption, no one has been spared, but, by faith, in Jesus Christ, we who are believers know that we are going to be in an entirely different kingdom, that although we live in this kingdom here on Earth, that our true home is not in this kingdom, but that Kingdom which shall be forthcoming when Jesus establishes His dominion here on Earth. It's gonna be altogether different then. All evil is purged. All rebellion is put down. HE came as redeemer the first time; second time HE comes as Lord of Lord and King of Kings and He shall rule upon this Earth. All nations, kings, princes, peoples and kingdoms, on this Earth, come under His Rule. And, it's coming. A whole lot sooner than folks think. Now, I'm no prophet, but take a Real Good Look at what is going on in this world. When did you see objects hovering in our skies so frequent and so blatant? What about the sudden frequency of all these meteors? When have you known such historic weather catastophies that are occuring on this planet? When have you seen such blatant outright rebellion to the natural law of order? When have you seen such violence (yeah, I know we've always had violence, but to the degree we observe today, folks? When have you seen or known so many diseases and plagues and famines, droughts, historic folks, we are talking about historic? Coincidence? Suppose you all haven't been following the government's sequestration effect that is set to begin the first pains in somewhere around 30 to 60 days? Look at the other countries and how they are being hit with gut wrenching austerity cuts. Think we here in the States are immune? Guess you haven't noticed that the military has been performing live combat drills over our metropolitan cities either? Or that our air is polluted not only with toxins from smokes bellowing up from corporations and from our autos but also from those chemtrails that the jets are emitting above our heads. Mankind has polluted this Earth, tampered with the DNA of animal and human mix (yep folks that's what has been going on in our Labs not only here but in Europe and Isreal too from what the public info sites are revealing; Combining the DNA of animals and humans to create. . . . replicas of the Isle of Dr. Moroe all in the name of science so we can have replacement organs if need be, or to in an attempt to create the perfect combination of man/beast warriors, maybe the mad hatters just want to create something, man is always trying to outdo God, seems to me Satan has alot of competion these days getting to the throne of God, Satan has to knock man out of the way because man has deemed himself above God. Folks, it would be a good idea to take a real good look at events around us, and at ourselves. Salvation is free, and it's open to all, whosover will, but one thing is for certain, scripture plainly declares that God the Father told God the Son, sit here at my right hand while I put your enemies under your feet. Now folks, I ain't condemning, I ain't judging. But the question we need to ask ourselves is am I God's enemy?
