Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.

Is it too early to be thinking of martinis?
Just got back from my (one week early) INR, fully expecting to have it on the high side, what with the nose bleed and all.
So you can imagine the surprise both the lab tech and I had when it came up 1.4.
I couldn't be more sick of this %&$#!!! Last check was 2.8, and I had been bouncing around in range for a few tests prior to that, so we felt good about going a month in between checks. IT'S BEEN A YEAR and I'M STILL NOT STABLE ON WARFARIN GAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
So the nurse should call around 4pm to let me know about any dosage changes. My guess is they'll throw in another 10 mg day and recheck in a week. *sigh*
Well, on the bright side, I'm in no danger of bleeding to death...in fact I could take advantage of this new low and do a little drunken stock car racing this evening. Very frustrated right now - thanks for letting me rant on.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Now I'm gonna have to scold you cegee; do not mess with your warfarin dose by yourself. Seriously, you know that it's very dangerous, and if you're only being tested every 3 weeks, you have no IDEA what your range is in between time. A year out from your DVT, too low of an INR is not as scary as an uncontrolled bleeding event (to me anyway.
On the other hand, your doc seems too be erring too far on the side of caution with your persistently low INR. At least when I'm low, I know my doc is gonna give me a booster 10mg dose and check in a week - no pussy-footin' around. It seems to me like you're going to need a 10 mg day in there somewhere....with more frequent testing until you're solidly in range. But you must have a frank discussion with him about this and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES do you raise your own dose.
Bummer about the vacation, but it's not much fun if you're worried and in pain too. Stay-cations are all the rage now anyhow, so at least your in vogue!
LauraLu, even though I'm therapuetic, you are welcome down to Milwaukee anytime, provided you're still bringing the Grey Goose.
And congrats on that lovely INR - I'm back up to 2.0 as of this mornings test, but they want me to do another booster of 10 mgs today and test again next week.
