The vague language is annoying since it calls for speculation of what investigation DS actually did and what that investigation found. I don't know enough about technology to throw out any hypothesis but do find it interesting that it is only inactive profiles that were affected. Personally, what is going on right now aside, I do feel that DS has made some pretty significant improvements over the years (certainly there are things on this updated site I don't like but, security=wise, it's significantly better!) We didn't always have the ability to have private profiles that only friends could see- there was even a time when you didn't have to be a member of DS to see a profile! I no longer am searchable on google- my screenname (and previous screenname) warrant ZERO results- not my profile, not things I have put on boards, nothing. This was not always the case. And, as it's been pointed out, this is NOT the first instance of spammers by any stretch of the imagination, it ebbs and flows- and each time it happens a lot of people get upset and leave which is really sad in my opinion because the hackers win while awesome people leave for fear of their security. Maybe I've become jaded, immune, whatever over the years but I see it more as an annoyance- I guess these hackers are just more lame than previous ones and easier to deal with with DS actually more on top of it- each report I have sent I have gotten an e-mail response the SAME DAY that the person has been banned- this has never, EVER, been the case before. Now, it is an annoyance that this is happening at all? Of course it is! I hate having the happiness of a notification only to have it be a spam request, that sucks. I hate having to fill out ANOTHER spam report even though it only takes about 10 seconds. I also don't know what DS found, the extent of their investigation, and if they could be doing more because, like I already said- this is a really vague message. I understand why people are up in arms and I do find it really odd that even community leaders are not being kept in the loop of the investigation and its findings- that, is fishy in my mind. At least for me though, I'm not reporting a 1, 2 people a day anymore- I think I've only reported one this week- fastest slow down yet, DS has had these breeches go on for months at a time before. Am I saying it's good? No, of course not. Seeing old profiles that were probably people's good friends at one time is horrible and I'd certainly be really upset if one of my dear old friends who are no longer on this site suddenly friend request me and see that their profile is now just spam- that would hurt me A LOT. I guess what I'm trying to say is that in the world of the internet, unfortunately, there are bored, evil people with nothing better to do than to mess with security of various sites, fish for information and so on. All websites can do is continue to beef up their security, be vigilant for holes and work quickly to identify and plug any issues that arise. With the downswing of requests I am getting I feel DS IS working on that. Feel free to disagree with me, I'm entitled to my opinion as you are to yours but I'm not going to respond to it. Hopefully this problem in its entirety will be resolved soon- personally, even with this vague message, I feel they ARE working on a resolution if for no other reason than the down-tick of spam I personally have received as of late.

Actually I just googled youur screen name and came up with loads of your posts. I won't list them here because that's obviously something you are concerned about. If you don't believe me I can send you the search results privately.

Were you confusing google search with DS search which you are right, brings up nothing?

All posts on DS are searchable through google. Either by subject or User account name.

If you wish...you have the option to delete anything that you don't want "out there" by clicking on the small arrow beside the date on YOUR post or reply.

I am with SunCloudJD on this and I just want to give y'all a big hug for all the emotional pain you are suffering due to DS and Shelley and Jesse are included in this group hug, as I am sure they are just towing the company line.

Wow! I just checked google...sigh...I learn something new every day...I agree with group hug!
