im not sure of my computer downloaded this properly, it appears in up and down rows- either way I could follow it, and I totally relate, many of my family/ friends are also voting for him- and I find myself very disappointed in them- to the point that I have lost much respect for all...I just watched a video this morning of an interview where the dumpster is being interviewed by rich and famous after his daughter tiffany was born- 1 year old- and he is discussing her future breasts (?!!!!!) he is a sociopath and deplorable man, I cannot be silent, every time a republican hits me with a comic strip promoting him, I just hit them back with the truth, a factual interview etc ;) that's all we can do, there is no point in battling opinions, just show them the facts, and if they don't like it, good. Because ppl that don't want to face the truth or facts I have no space for in my life.

There is not just the liberal media there is also the conservative media, too :) I rarely listen to the major news anymore except for clips on youtube when a candidate says something I want to listen to. I've learned a lot just by listening to them and looking up their record on the issues not just what they say lol but what they have done.

I find some comfort in knowing that my single vote will not change the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election. But if it were that close, then every single vote could have made a difference.

I have not voted for a presidential candidate since my first time voting. Since then it has been the lesser of 2 evils, or how ever you choose to phrase it.

I totally get where you're coming from, Castoff. I am what could best be described as a liberal democrat (though I don't really like labels--I'm a registered independent). My family are all conservative republicans. They have no problem with war or global warming or crimes against humanity, as long as their middle-class lifestyle is not disturbed by it.

I generally don't feel free to express my views in any forum whatsoever. I don't even 'like' posts on FB that I agree with 100% because my gun-toting brother-in-law (and some of my other friends that I don't want to alienate) would see it and mock me. So much for freedom of speech.

I think it's not unusual for serious ugliness in politics. The issue, to me, has much to do with the 24 news cycle and political pundits and news entertainment shows (Morning Joe, Hannity, The Rachel Maddow Show, O'Reilly Factor, etc) being mistaken for actual factual news reporting rather than the blustering talking points BS we've come to some how consider news. These types of shows are like a type of brainwashing, and how they do it is to appeal to people's fears. People gotta stop being sheep, quit being afraid, use some common sense, and start looking elsewhere for their information. But that requires work and diligence, and staying off social media to some degree. But unfortunately, I think as a society we are kind of lazy turds that way. So, in a sense, we get what we deserve. In an other sense, maybe we need a big old fail with this election, whoever is elected, whatever happens, just have everything implode, in order to get back on track. Sometimes we have to let things fall apart comp[etely so we can build something new.

On a personal note, my husband and I have very different political views. Who am I to tell him how to feel and vice versa? Where we try to align is not with candidates but with ideas. It's just that we both think there are different ways to solve things. So, to make sure we can live together without killing each other, we just try to understand the other's point of view and then ultimately agree to disagree. Simple as that. I'm not sure why people feel the need to get so crappy about it. Again, I do think part of it is social media, where it's easy to just say anything to anyone without considering how ugly it is. Maybe that comes from some people never feeling like they've had a voice. I don't know.

If this is something that you feel strongly about then you should use your voice... I do believe it's important to pick your battles so that people will take you seriously.... I also think that the way people 'present' themselves and their 'case' is important

I tend to be a fairly serious person as well and there are certain things that I am an advocate for.... If people want to roll their eyes there isn't too much you can do that... If you become an advocate there are those who will take the other side.... big hug.....xo

For our Canadian election last year I was pretty quiet. The conservatives had been in power a while, and they did a really good job of managing the economy. So I thought I would vote Green, for a protest vote, because the Conservatives would get in anyway. But the Green Party candidate in my riding withdrew after his nomination and threw his weight behind the Liberals.

Now,, I hated Pierre Trudeau and his phoney charisma, from the moment the Liberal party chose him to be leader. He wrecked our economy, it took decades to recover. So I started thinking seriously about his son. There it was again -charisma. Meanwhile, the liberal media was full gun in support of this substitute teacher/bar bouncer/snowboard instructor. Not a single qualification to be in government, just a trust fund kid.

But instead of actively campaigning for the Conservatives, I just kept my mouth shut, didn't argue with all my Liberal friends when they slandered Prime Minister Harper, and put up videos of how Trudeau did Bollywood dancing better than Harper. Since when is that a qualification to be the leader of the country?

Long winded, sorry but the LIberals won, Trudeau is the selfie king, literally jet setting around the globe on government funds. He is destroying the economy, just like his father, even Liberals are beginning to wonder at his total lack of knowledge on how to run a country!

So I swore I would speak out often and loud on any topic, but not swearing or slandering anyone. Well, except Trump! I disliked that man so intensely in the primaries, and since the debate, I have been giving a full out assault everywhere and anywhere. He's not even a conservative, he supported the Dems and Hillary for years with his money and his mouth.

I am in one Christian Forum (not DS) where I post some new horror daily about Trump. Some people tried to bully me to stop, saying I was not American, I had no right to talk about the election.

Except Canada lives and dies by the US. So I am going to speak out. No more regretting that I didn't take a stand.

Ooops! What forum am I in!? Sorry for the rant! It's my new policy. Maybe I do need to sort it out a bit more, where the line is between standing up for what I believe and going on a tirade!

I'm not fond of Trump, but Clinton scares me as well. She called Trump supporters a bucket of deplorables, and she called Bernie supporters basement dwellers as in failed college students who are living off their parents.

I've seen how Obama care is hurting healthcare. Talk to nurses and ask them if their jobs are better after Obamacare, talk to people who were promised that we could keep the health care plans we had.

The democrats have shown, to me, that they are more interested in change than what they are changing into.

Somebody else mentioned it, perhaps we need to get a really bad president to shock us into reality.

And from my viewpoint, it looks like we will get that no matter who wins in November.

I can't thank any of you enough for your responses! It means the world to know that there are people out there that feel my frustration and know my struggle. There is power in numbers and if we all trust our voices, maybe we'll be heard, in this country and in Canada. I don't know what the future holds for this election but I know that the present political situation is telling enough and I'll do what I can to live authentically, and respectfully in it.

I might as well get everybody mad at me. If you took the best characteristics of Trump and Clinton and combined them unfortunately you would still come up short. They represent the opposite extreme sharp pointy ends of the same stick. Good luck with that, they are politicians, what do you expect. Having said the previous I can say as a Canadian that we are way ahead of the US in this department. We have already elected a couple of real total misfits in the form of Justin Trudeau, our Prime Minister in Ottawa and Premier Kathleen Wynne in Ontario. (Talk about being on the eve of destruction)
So I'm not really throwing stones at Americans, I'm just saying, welcome to the club. We get the government we deserve, the majority elected them!!!! Oh, by the way, I did NOT vote for either one of them, I'm not totally insane. Let the chips fall where they may, I still believe in free speech and my OWN personal opinion.

I agree with the posts above, religion, politics and sex are topics that I never discuss with family or at work, and it is sad really because we encounter all of those [topics] in our daily lives. We say we are tolerant but one of the definitions of tolerance is when we truly can discuss anything and violence or worse will not ensue. Tolerance is also hearing of others ideology and customs and acknowledging and learning. I believe the time around elections is very delicate, specially now with so many reports of people committing violence simply because of ideology differences.

Iam a Australian and live in Australia i find it interesting that someone like mr trump can run for president and is on the streets........considering the fact that guys get locked up in the USA for fair less and on even less evidence.
Mrs Clinton is a bit scary as well.
