Cleft Lip / Palate Support Group
Cleft is a congenital deformity caused by a failure in facial development during gestation. It can be treated with surgery shortly after birth with highly successful results. Cleft occurs in somewhere between one in 600 and one in 800 births. Cleft occurs in several severities and is divided in two major categories: cleft lip and cleft palate.
I'm not that type of smart, but give me any human part and I can tell you everything about it and why something went wrong.
As for the DC comics, I just mean they are that bad. Smallville I liked, as I said, but mostly the whole DC range is just not my cup of tea. I am a series junkie, I watch almost everything, some of my favourites is Greys Anatomy, Blacklist, Scorpion and Chicago Fire. But I have to agree with you that Breaking Bad was just that, BAD.
And I also agree with you on the subject of us "Clefts" concentrating to hard on the cleft part of our life. THis is why I started the "Being Me", I do get my days where I feel ugly, fat and stupid, but honestly so do everyting single human on this beautiful planet of ours. Yes it sucks to have this thing hanging over us, but it does not define us. Even the normal peeps, every single one of the has something they have that makes them feel like they dont matter or that makes them ugly.
We should all just move on and realize that this thing, even though it's tough is who we are. Hww many normal peeps feel the exact same way because the have 6 toes or they have big ears or a fat belly or what ever.
We are here, we are important, beautiful, sexy and intelligent people, and honestly we should act like it. Because until we actually do, how can we expect people to accept us for who we are, when we can accept ourselves?
I ever wanted to find a place where I could talk with other people with cleft lip and palate so I'm really glad I found this forum.
Here in Brazil there some supports groups about this subject but all of them are focused on the parents of people with cleft lip and palate.
They usually give tips on how to feed your baby and etc... I'm not saying that this is not important but it seems that we never talk to each other, only our parents do.
My country has a big hospital focused on cleft lip and associated problems but even there it seems that the patients don't like talk about it.
Every time I go there I see that all suffering I ever faced is small when compared with what some patients go through.
May 2015 be a better year for everyone. I'm glad to be here now.
I am at an impasse in my life. I don't know where I am going, in the past 2 years my life has gone from bad to worse. We had 4 home invasions, 1 was brutal. Tied up, beaten, not knowing if the end will come. But I survived, I moved to a new house, the first new house I had in 26 years. Which was a huge adjustment. I don't like change, I crumble underneath it. So when everything moved so quickly, I started to doubt everything. I have been living here for over a year, but it still does not feel like home.
I think I need this group, to cope again, to be able to feel like I control things. But at this point, it just does not feel like it. I feel like every wall is collapsing around me and I cannot breathe. I had this dream for a reason, atleast that is what I believe. So I am here. Starting over. Trying to make sense of life
