I don't have any talents, but I realised that I have a passion, for my son. So 5 things that made me happy today was:
1) Getting up at 4am and drinking cocoa with my son
2) Seeing my son run and play outside asif he's never been outside
3) Taking a nice long hot shower
4) Eating french fries and drinking choclate milk with my son for breakfast
5) And finding out 2 people actually took the time to read what I wrote.
My list:
1. I love to tell stories and make people laugh
2. Cooking and nurturing with food brings me joy
3. Spending time with children, unofficial children, grand children and unofficial grand children.
4. Helping people with clefts or other health issues, realize that they are awesome and they are not the small part of them that is different.
5. Having children to enjoy all of the work my husband and I have done around here. Farm animals, gardens, mountains, home improvement projects, walks on our beautiful property and feeling the peace that we feel here. :-)
Here I go again making meself sound like a very very sad person. But I have to admit, I do have a lot of sad days, a lot of angry days, a lot of days that I just don't want to get up. The only thing that keeps me going is my wicked little angel. Today he through a tantrum for more toothpaste. He loves brushing his teeth, but he loves toothpaste even more. And I thought to myself: Why can't toothpaste give me such joy? So I sat down next to him on our very very cold floor and brushed my teeth with him. I guess if you do take the time and think about what is nice about brushing your teeth it is simple, the bubbles and the vibration and the after taste...
So five things that made me happy today:
1) Bubbles
2) Electric Toothbrush
3) Toothpaste
4) Feeling minty fresh after brushing teeth
5) Having my son run to me asking me to put toothpaste on his toothbrush
I have this wonderful picture of you sitting with your little angel and enjoying the experience of tooth brushing on his level. Maybe you can get back some of the joy you lost or never had. My children did that for me and now my grand children are doing that too. There is so much joy to experience in this life. Sometimes, it's all in the way we look at it. Nothing like a child to show us that!
Today I would love to just stay in bed. It's so cold here at the moment (it's almost the middle of winter). So I'm here in my warm cosy bed and a memory struck me like a 10 pound hammer. When I was small cold didn't bother me. I could get up at the crack of dawn in the middle of winter and play outside barefoot. And now I look at my son and he's the same. I think most if not all kids just doesn't feel the cold or if they do, it's because they love it. I remember my grandmother always telling me to put shoes on, and I hated that. Shoes are so confining, like a little jail for your feet. Now that I'm all grownup, I just want to be warm. So I am going to do a little experiment today, later on, going barefoot outside. Braving the wild, so to speak, I live on a farm. SO it's all grass and dirt which I love and hate at the same time. I'm almost sure that I will not like this experiment, but I want to try rekindle that old cold flame and see if I could still enjoy winter like I did when I was small and as my son does now.
I am enjoying reliving my childhood joys and discovering a few joys that I just completely missed apparently or completely forgot about. I will let you guys know how the experiment went, if I don't lose all my toes, lol.
How was it, running barefoot in the cold? :-)
I am getting the flu, so I think this morning barefoot walking outside was maybe not such a good idea. My son on the other had a joyful round about with the puppies and got very fustrated because he couldn't get hold of one (the pups are 3 weeks old, but running around asif they have done it for years). Three pups, called, Wiskey, Jack and Daniels. My son loves them, just a pity we have to give them away in 3 weeks time.
I am not a big bird lover, except for owls, they are so beautiful. I'm a big cat person, but I love all animals and creepy crawlies. Except the assasin bug, nasty little critter the size of a pinky nail, but stings 10 times worse than a wasp. I have 3 things that I'm scared of: Being under water, balloons and pigeons. Apparently only one is a rational fear according to professionals. Guess which one, lol.
Five things I am grateful for today:
1) Seeing my son laugh because his mom is silly
2) Whatching my son cuddle with three pups and knowing he's going to love animals as much as I do
3) Shoes
4) Socks
5) A hot bath
Five things that make me happy?
-My dog, because at the end of a long day I open the door and he's there wagging his tail and smiling (he really does smile)
-Sunshine
-Music
-The first few minutes of waking on a day when you are not forced to get out of bed. Honestly, my bed NEVER feels so good outside of that moment
-Coffee
Today is very cold again, but I got to sleep in because my son is with his Mim (grandma) till Friday. And I just embraced the feeling of my blanket, sheet and electric blanket. It felt like drifting on a cloud. A warm fuzzy cloud.
My son is getting very cute now, yesterday he was running outside on the grass (which is very dry and brown) he told me: Mommy crunchy. So he laid down on it and then laughed because he said the grass was funny because it tickled. I do love his laugh. I thought to myself that at that age, a laugh is so pure and truthfull, he doesn't laugh if he really doesn't think it's funny. He won't laugh just because all the people around him is laughing. So his intensions are pure and he hasn't learnt yet to just play along because everyone else is doing it. He finds joy just looking at a water dripping or the christmas lights on our christmas tree (which I still haven't taken down, because he enjoys it so much).
Talking about our christmas tree, I'm very proud of my my little creation. We don't have a lot of money, but I really wanted a christmas tree, so I made one. It's dried twigs placed in an old pot. With old lights I found in a cupboard. For the decorations, I took old washers and springs and painted glue on it and dipped it in glitter. It's quite a sight.
Sorry, someone once said that my mind works like a gumball machine, different thoughts everytime you turn the nob. So I tend to babble about anything that jumps in my mind.
So five things I am greatful for today:
1) Flu meds
2) Choclate mousse choclates
3) Fruit chutney Chips
4) Fruit juice
5) Christmas trees
I admire the mind of a child, because they make you smile at the oddest things, and the smallest things. They can remind you that life is really quite simple at time when you think things are so serious. I am not a mother, but I hope someday I will be. I appreciate the fact that they appreciate the smallest things and all of those things outside of the norm.
Have you ever considered crafting as a hobby? It's really fun and has helped me. I find little projects online that I can do. It's fun, it fills the time, and is very rewarding.
