Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Thank goodness I am not sensitive person I am just joking but it did make me laugh but thank you for the vote of confidence It is nice.
I think everyone on that list is a good one, and you know I have thought for a long time and asked you a couple of times if you would consider being a CL because in the end you would be the best. And I was mad when I saw that you can not have anything on your file or whatever you would call it and I remember you saying that someone had sent in a form on you and you got the "letter". I also think the 6 months rule is a bit long and I am not sure who you named qualify under that criteria.
But in the end I still hope it is a member of the group they have to know a bit of the history and that is probably why of the 6 months criteria not only do they have to know how DS works but how this group works.
I would be willing, but I've lost it before on here and I'm sure some people would have a problem with me in that position. Like I said I'm willing but I'm not sure I'd be the best choice.
I personally think David or Doug would be the most fair in the position. I also think it should be someone from the CP group, I don't think an outsider would have the feel for it.
As we have seen here in several of the answers, the is NO issue with this group, most members respect and value the different opinions that other have, so like I said before, this room is NOT volatile or have "issues", some members do, and that is up to the persons to change, not up to DS or a CL.
If I was the administrator of this site, I would give 3 strikes and you are out! Too many people here that play the disable card to annoy and insult others. Like I always have said, if you do not want people to give their opinions on your issues, DON'T POST THEM ON THE MAIN BOARD!!! Do it on the journal were only your friends can support and listen to you. I don't journal, when I have a major issue and need opinions, I go to my DS friends, period!
All of the members that I mention for the CL position, are members that I respect, and look up to, NOT all of them are in my friends list, and I am saying this so people don't say; "yeah, Tipper is promoting her friends", most of the one that I mention, are not my friends, but people that like I said before I respect.
Watersnake and ChornicIL, would have been perfect for the job, but unfortunately, they are no longer with us.
Hasani, manny and Kansass, I agree with your points, and manny; why did I make you laugh??????? You are level headed, helpful and honest, I think that those are the qualitiels that a good CL should have. Actually, all of the people that I mention, have those qualities.
I have another member to add................well. 3 more, LOL!!!! Nealytee. Leeall and OMG, I forgot her name! Let me go look and I'll be back with the third name, LOL!
Hugs,
I really think for a group this large, 2 or 3 Cl's would be a good thing. There would be balance, if one was having med problems, moving (LOL) or just overwhelmed there would be safety net. I do believe 2 or 3 heads are better than one. It would also lessen any stigma of favoritism.
They want the person they choose to volunteer..... to contact them about being a CL
OK - so how can we get and twist the persons arms to go and ask - IF we don't we might end up with the "wrong" people - as in ones who do not have the respect of the group as a whole - being given the CL position.
To those who have been named by Tipper - I know that at least one of them - who would be great - will probably refuse as they are really stretched to the max right now.
So please..... WE need you and WE really need you to volunteer....
BTW anyone who might consider this position I would suggest they go talk to a couple of CLs on here - WanderingVet is one and can be found on the Members board or Depression.
That job is going to take quite a bit of time -- and I just can't spend that much time on the computer. But thanks again so much for the thought. Hugs, Lee
It was my bashful humor that I was trying to tell you and it did come across strange, now as I am reading it
It made me laugh this morning because when I read it you had a list of reasons why each person would make a good CL after their name and when I came to my name all you wrote was that you would consider me and I didnt get the I am awesome and knowledgeable like the others. It was my ego that was laughing with me. I was like dang I did not even get a smart. It was my weird sense of humor I was trying to tell you. Sometimes I cant ever get my jokes across on the net, does anyone else have that, I try to be funny and I sound crazy LOL
It is a volunteer position just like all the other CL's. It is like being an admin on the member group sort of it has no power, no money and probably a bit of aggravation. The good part of being a CL is that you can make a difference in your group and be helpful to new members. I guess a CL would be like a host to people new and old.
I really do not understand why anyone would want a person not a member of the group already, If you are a good person and do the right thing it should not matter.
"Someone recently said in a post something to the effect in regards to me that people dont forget and someo other stuff. This person was letting me know that just the site of my screen name peoples minds go to their memories unfortunately. What is it called a Scareltt Letter?"
... it is a fact of life that when someone treats another with rudely or speaks to them with a lack of respect, it is remembered. especially if that person doesn't apologize for their behavior - or even *seem* apologetic.
i have come across people both in life and on the boards who seem to think that their behavior, however selfish, rude, or disparaging, should be forgotten about almost immediately. THEY are annoyed when others remember the hurt they've caused, or simply continue to associate them with their own behavior. they expect a clean slate when they've done nothing to deserve one, and are angry when they don't get it.
in my opinion, if anyone on this board feels that others might have less-than-lovely thoughts or opinions of them - especially if carried over from previous posts/conversations - it might be a good idea to look at your own actions and expectations to and from those people. there's usually a reason that negative thoughts or hostility is felt towards others.
perhaps, if we take the time to think about our own part of the equation instead of the others alone, we can find a more peaceful way to exist with others, whether in life or on the boards.
xo, misa
You said it exactly right on.
Misa - Ditto to what you said, and gosh, I missed you!
6retsub2 - Thanks for mentioning my name, but first, I am not interested, and 2nd, I do have an "abuse" letter on my record, thanks to a member that got her/his finger stuck on the report button, so I am not eligible anyways.
Dmaspord is one of the members that I mentioned, he is awesome beyond belief! And like Manny, he is helpful, knowlegeagble and an all around awesome men! (see manny, I was nice this time....LOL!)
